Yes, it's a 10mm jam nut. I'd highly recommend purchasing a specialized tool for this job as it makes life soooo much easier. I purchased a Schley Products valve adjusting tool. Product #88950. Too make sure that I am able to get a reasonable amount of torque (approx. 14lbs/ft), I slid a 10" long section of copper tubing over the handle.

You can find this product on the web and I think it's like $60 or so.

Just my 2 cents.

"Marcucci" on this board also sells a homemade tool for moving the lock nut while holding the adjuster screw at the same time. It's simply and cheap. PM him.

I have a Honda tool for this, but it's 15 years old. Not sure if this is still a valid part number but it's 07GMA-KT80120

It basically is the same thing as the homemade ones I've seen. I have a customized screwdriver with a fat shaft that stays perfectly centered in the bore of the valve adjustment tool so you always hit the screw head perfectly.

Luckily I had this tool in my toolbox for adjusting motorcycle valves. I'll upload pics if anyone's interested.

after everything was on, make sure not to leave any tool in engine compartment.... including rechet set on the crank. I had this wierd noise, THARRRRRRRRRRRR, at over 1500 RPM good thing it was a premium tool. Hewww.

my impression on this work was very satisfactory. engine does idle and revs smoother. but for some others, it was critical. check this thread out. PICS it was a timebomb set to go off. this is another reason you should do this with expert.

cheers,
this small oversight is that exact same thing that was suspected to have taken out wingman's engine many miles later. I would check the torque on your crank bolt...

I was amazed how different my car felt after an adjustment.

When you put the cam cover back, dont you have to put new gaskets?
Is it ok to re-use it?

Question, then how much noise is good? Cuz I can hear my valve tapping (I have 50K on it), kinda like how my 240 did when I prolonged an oil change once. The car has a fresh oil change and I can hear the valve noise quite distinctly, I mean granted my friend who has a gsr says his valves tap a lil less than mine but says his our normal. The sound reminds me of how some sport bikes sound.
