On BITOG Mobil is "known" for making valvetrains noisy.
Lots of reports from ppl saying its noisy with Mobil 1 or quiet with other oils.
I have not been able to find any reasoning behind it.
(Imagine an internetforum as big as S2Ki on oil alone )

@ Wisconsin : the Visc of my Shell 0W-40 at 100C is 13.5 Cst.
According to a list found on BITOG all 10W-30 are thinner.
Here is a link to that list:

I really dont know for sure I'm going to use the 0W-40 again.. I might even go to 0W-30, to "free-up some horses" by the thinner oil at operating temp => less pump loss. That said, I still have another 6 liters of the 0W-40 sitting here so I think i'm going to use that up first. The UOA will hopefully provide me with some data on how my 0W-40 did in the F20C. Patience my friend
I guess it's a horse a piece ya know? Unfortunately, I can't provide any more info as RR is the one who made the original statement. However, if it floats your boat and you get good UOAs then hats off to you.

I am not a tribologist either, but the following is what I know:
0W40 oil isn't thin; however, it will shear slightly greater than 5W40 and 10W40 because of the high viscosity spread. On the other hand, a 0W40 oil only comes in SYNTHETIC form (group 3, 4 , or 5 base oil); so when it does shear it will probably be no greater than conventional 5W40.
I would think that's what RR was referring to. Because of the high revving nature of the S2k, having lower shear is more important, which is why the 0w40 was not as good?

SpitfireS I definitely want to see what the shear numbers end up at on your UOA. Most definitely post them and give us the mileage too!

Current milage = 2409 m (3854 km) since last oil change, and counting
