Throttle Body
How many different companies make throttle bodys for the s2k and what are your opinions on each. I know spoon has one, but $1200 dollars seems a little pricey to me.
I would go with Proflow TB . They rebore your stock one and send it back to you , go to there website for more info Proflowdesign.com . I added comptech exhaust and Pflow TB got 17HP to the rear wheel dyno proven.
jlangton, I don't know where you got quote on Spoon Throttle body for $1200. But it is really in the realm of $600-$700.
I think I remember seeing one site has the price of $1200, that is a flat out price mistake. If you want to do something with throttle body, ProFlow is a definite choice unless you want to keep your part and go back to stock form.
*oh wait, the sponsor Science of Speed sells the Spoon throttle for mere $485, damn that is hella cheap than what I paid way back.
jlangton, that is almost $715 cheaper than where you first found the price of ridiculous $1200.
There is another company called MLS(Motor Life System) in Japan who also sells standalone throttle body and is the most expensive around $900-$1000, still cheaper than $1200.

Another wide throttle body is offered by Speed, Inc.:

The Spoon and the Speed appear to be the same part. Speed may be the "OEM Manufacturer" of the Spoon part. This I am not sure of but I am sure someone can confirm/deny this.
The Spoon throttle body is a modified stock Honda part (well there are only three manufacturers of standard thottle bodies in the world). The modification is a tapered bore of the mouth of the throttle body. The inlet is bored 4-5mm larger, but the apperature at the butterfly remains stock. For this minor modification Spoon charges you the modest sum of $450-600 for the work and a new Honda core.
The Speed throttle body above looks very similar to the work on the Spoon part, and it also has a stock appearing butterfly.
Proflow throttle bodies are a little different. The same Honda core is used, but the mouth and the apperature are both bored and a larger butterfly is installed. The end result is an full overbore of 2-3mm at the butterfly and 4-6mm at the mouth. Jim at www.proflowdesign.com could confirm this information. This part is available for ~$155 on an exchange basis. Wesmaster, ChrisD, cbj80, and others are using this part on their cars and have seen measurable dyno gains. Proflow will be researching the specific dyno gains in the near future.
Based upon the above information, I went with the Proflow throttle body. On a side note: unless you are using forced induction, it is unlikely you will see any gains using any throttle body without fuel tuning.
