One of the hummingbird babies left the nest this AM and then came back later.

Not sure if any of you have observed how the eaglets get rid of waste from their bodies. Let's just say it gives new meaning to the term "shoot the sh-t".

I saw that the other day and threw up a little in my mouth. I allllllmost posted about it, but thought my classy friends would disapprove. Tuned in just in time to see the whiz in action again.

Well, it certainly makes sense to keep waste out of the nest. Amazing how the instincts kicked in.

The babies are getting big. That nest is getting crowded.

It is amazing. I noticed how the waste overshoots and always breathe a sigh of relief that I'm well out of harm's way. Nature and the wildlife that surrounds us never ceases to amaze me. I often tell Jim that I truly believe science underestimates the intelligence of all living things and that in some way we are connected to the natural world around us. I become more than a little concerned about the harm we have done to our planet and wonder if someday our own arrogance will lead to the demise of the earth as we know it. Every single living thing is important and yet we humans tend to use and abuse everything based solely on our wants.

Yep, that's how they do it - duck! I've seen that a few times.
