The upright rake does attract its share of rocks, but it gives our car its classic roadster look, so I'll live with the pits. Another thing I like about the upright windshield is when you've got the top properly down, you can look straight up and see sky (always blue out here). My C5 Vette's windshield was raked back so much that you looked up and saw windshield frame.

Windshield coverage is a separate policy and does not have to be included in the same policy as the rest of the car. AMA has a tendency to screw people with this regard when they put a windshield rider on your policy and hose you for it. You should go look elsewhere for only the glass coverage. Age should not add 1500 bux to a policy just for glass.

Well folks, I dug this up because on a recent trip to Long Island, New York my windshield took a hit right along the right side vertical portion next to the "A" pillar. It then cracked about four inches during the rest of that trip, mostly due to the pot holes (AKA craters) on Shore Parkway in Brooklyn.

I also wondered if there are quality or different options (coatings) when it comes to replacement windshields? So I searched the Vintage forum and found this thread from 2003.

My S has over 91K miles on it and I was close to replacing the windshield about two years (about 15K miles) ago because it was so "sand blasted" and pitted that it was "painful" driving into the sun in the early morning or late afternoon.

I will have it replaced in time for the TomCatt Memorial run.

Then I discovered that Zaino Brothers had come to market with a glass polish

For those of you that have "pitted" / "sand blasted" windshields I would highly recommend this product to help restore your view through your windshield.

Zaino makes great products and I am going to order some Z12 as I have a detailing business and water spots on glass at the beach are an issue. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the tip Matt, I'll give it a try; sounds like it will help our shower as well.
