I'll be in Scottsdale from Jan 15th to the 17th, for the ElliptiGO Winter Rally. It was beautiful there last year.

Used mine for the first time this winter yesterday, We got a good 5" of snow/ice mix. Where I did have to shovel it was like shoveling sand, very heavy. I had started mine back in Sept. but that was over 3 months ago.

Good tip....thanks Rob. I'll have to give my shovels a spray.

I’m not certain what dates or locations will fill our agenda; for the time being it looks like San Diego may be our destination. If the choice happens to be Scottsdale on your ElliptiGO outing dates we’ll cheer you on with cow bells and shouts! And the Gatorade and energy bars will be on us!

^ My brother called from Phoenix. They are stuck in a cold pattern - 50s daytime and 30s at night. Might want to check that before you head to Scottsdale! Although by that time it should be better. Normally it's gorgeous Jan-Mar.

Deb, apparently you’ve never been to Colorado in the winter months. If the temperature reaches fifty degrees people are walking around in their khaki shorts and sleeveless shirts. We do though have a DRY cold — the same as a Scottsdale cold.

I decided to be adventurous and head out to the grocery store last night after work, Bad Idea! It is about a 14 mile commute each way on our state highway which is 2 lanes and everything froze up even with the state trucks being out there was just nothing that could be done. I realized it was really bad coming back I tapped the gas in my truck to see what I was dealing with and the truck started to kick out so I knew then it was sheer ice. I passed about 20 cars off the side of the road and 3 accidents in one 5 mile span. Luckily I made it back unscathed. I think I am going back to being unadventurous. Be careful out there folks.

I watched my wife throw the S430 sideways in our driveway yesterday.
and that was at 10-15 mph, with snows and all of mercedes whiz bang antiskid goodies.

we had a few of he big pine branches come tumbling down today.
on the order of 4-5 inches thick.

did I mention I hate ice.

We finally got some precipitation worthy of taking notice yesterday.
Few inches of slush, backed up by some freezing rain.
Thank goodness, as I was beginning to regret equipping my wife's ride with some
good snow treads this year, even though she works within spittin' distance from home,
and generally puts a good 5-6 thousand miles a year on whatever is her dedicated ride.

It's been the easiest winter that I can recall.
On the upside, it's a nice break from the last two brutally
cold winters we've endured.

Drug out my snowblower just before Thanksgiving in anticipation
of a typical Yonderland cold season.
Fired it up to ensure operation , and haven't had a need to touch it
since.

Hoping you folks getting real winter this year are making the best of it.

Happy New Year,
jagg

Been there. Done that. Not a fun ride. Thankfully, no problem.
