random misfire code?? Any CEL? can be a bent valve, even a very very slightly bent one. Ever over rev, even just bouncing over the 9K mark?

Get a leak down test done... you could have a slightly bent valve.
Compression test was pretty much perfect - 237-240# across the board. Could a bent valve still be a possibility? That would be a bummer. Unfortunately, school and work keep getting in the way of me taking a look at it. I'm going to check it out some more this weekend. Maybe something will jump out at me (doubtful)...
Compression tests can miss slightly bent valves.

No, I have not had a CEL since the original Cyl 2 misfire code. I'm beginning to think that code may have been due to rough running after the CEL reset.

As long as I've owned the car, it hasn't been over-revved. I do, however, autocross the car regularly, so the rev-limiter isn't a stranger. Everything I've read indicates hitting the limiter is just fine. I check my valve retainers during every valve adjustment. Of course, I can not speak for the 38k miles the previous owner put on it (it has ~75k now), but it seems like it was very well-maintained (aside from the wrong fluid in the transmission >_<).

That is good information to have. I'll see about getting a leakdown test done. If I still had my compressor, I'd do it myself...

I have my doubts about it being a bent valve, given the rest of the car's condition and the gradual appearance of this problem. If it had popped up immediately after an auto-x even or something, then I'd be less skeptical. It will still be a good thing to rule out.

I've also begun to wonder if a failing injector could be the culprit.

Looks like it was an injector. I put a low mileage set in today and the problem seems to be gone. I'll know for sure after I get to drive some more tomorrow.

All seems good. I've put roughly 45 miles on the car today without any kind of hiccup. I'll post back here if anything changes.

Thanks for all the help/suggestions everyone!
