I get this on the drivers side if the car is parked facing downhill.
There's a section of exposed tubing that the water drains into.

I solved it by buying a house with a garage and getting a different car I think thats a little bit too extreme though

This has started to get very annoying now. After a night of rain, when I start the car up and drive off, a river of water pisses out the seal above the passenger window. It comes from the join in the seals about halfway along the top of the window. I greased the seals not that long ago (about a month) with the Shin Itzu stuff but that hasn't cured the problem. There is a fair amount of water that comes out and any passenger in the seat gets a good soaking.
Anyone managed to solve this problem or even come across it?

Not solved it either!

Why are they holding water, surely it should be draining somewhere otherwise is it possible to seal them up so water doesn't settle in them?
But at certain angles (e.g facing downhill) the water can't drain away and a fair bit is held in the seal. This disperses in normal driving some of it by soaking either you or a passenger.
Have you checked the position of all of the seals and have you checked in particular that the really complicated rubber seal moulding on the A pillar is OK.
Said moulding actually had a bit of solid rubber inside to help it stay in shape and, I presume, keep the drain channel open. It's not impossible to disturb this during the seal greasing job. It's also not immpossible for the seal to get clogged with leaves and the like. - worth a check.
While you are at it it's also worth checking the sidescreen position against the seal. Obviously you don't want the window to low or it fails to contact the seal but you also don't want it to high or it crushes the seal. If you look in the service manual there is a descripton of how to adjust it.
When you read it you will understand why Bassoctopus built a garage

The only time I had water coming in is when I used the rubber tubing over the prongs on the roof catches to make a tighter seal. I over-did it a bit and the roof got out of shape. I put up with the rattle now!

It always happens when the car has been parked on a level road.

I have never had this problem, except the odd drip when I hose the car so there must be a reason why some get it and others don't.
When I apply the shin watsit grease I do it with the roof part down and apply it in all the various joints and ends of seals, also slide my finger behind all the folds in the seals.
Other than that

Check the drain holes in the windscreen rubber are clear and it's well tretaed with lube.
Ditto the other seals.
Now look at how the roof sits; it should be level with the windscreen cant rail (snigger) and not raised, nor compressing the seal too much.
If that's OK, check the door windows aren't stopping too high & displacing the window seals
Also check the roof hasn't shrunk, exposing too much window seal at the top.
If it all lines up & it's all clean & pliable, it shouldn't leak more than a dribble.
