Thanks for the calculator spazz..

ill have to get some measuring done when my s2k arrives. Dont know how my rear agressive offsets will sit in the rear wheel wells.

Some guard pumping maybe required.

Was aiming for:

Front = 18x7.5 +48
Rear = 18x8.5 +46

Ive bookmarked this thread to post my results.. wont be a while since its a 2 month wait for wheels to australia from japan for 1 off orders..

Hey,

Just a quick deal that I ran into recently, and Im wondering if someone could help clear it up.

I used to run SSR GT3s on my car. Only the fronts are important right now, as I am using how those wheels fit as a guide on how other others would look on my car fitmentwise in terms of fender clearance. The sizes that I was given for the SSRs are as follows: 18X8.0 +48. Tire size is irrelivant at the moment. Just rims. I was looking into a set of Volk GT-Cs for a replacement; size 18X7.5. The offsets and how the two wheels fit on the car is where things get screwy.

I did some reconstruction of each wheel size/offset in a CAD program to see how they would look in relation to where the SSRs were. By my calculations (and I double checked them to make sure they were right) a 7.5 wide wheel with a +43 offset should sit 1.35mm in from the 8.0 wide with +48mm offset. But when I did a physical test fit on the car with a 7.5 wide +50 (it was a Volk GT-C display model in the shop), it was sticking out from the fender! NO SPACER. My rough guess, it was popping out between .100-.200 inch. Something is obviously messed up.

Anyone care to clarify what is going on with this? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.

Your calculations are correct.

Did the Volk GT-C have a tire on it? Did you bolt it up, let the car down off the jack, and roll it several feet to let it settle? If not, perhaps what you're seeing is the appearance of the wheel sticking out when the car is lifted because of the camber curve of the suspension.

The wheel was bolted on with correct lug nuts, torqued to correct settings, mounted with a 215 tire, lowered, and rolled about 10 feet back and forth a couple times to let it settle correctly. It was still kinda funky. P.S. I am running stock suspension, and stock settings as well.

Well then, as you said, something fishy is going on there. You may have to measure the offset yourself (and verify the width as well), on the two wheels, to see if they are labeled correctly.

Well, The GT-C will be easy, the SSR . . . that's a whole other problem. The SSRs are no longer in my posession.

Since I bought the SSRs from Tire Rack, I may be able to have them check the reccords on the old fitments.

I'll give them a call to verify.

I'll also see if I can get the local shop to verify the GT-C size. I'd hate to drive out there again to check myself, it takes me a hour to get there.
I'd almost like to think that the GT-C label is correct since the +50 offset on the 7.5 wheel is the fitment that is reccomended for the S2000. However, checking my reconstructions, the +50 is still 17.7mm out further than stock. The fitment guide mentions that a +43 will be at the limmits of the fender without any deviation from stock settings suspension and fenders . . . (by my understanding, at least. Correct me if I'm wrong) which means the +50 should be 7mm inside the fender. Thats a little over a 1/4 inch and would be noticable when staring down the fender-line of the car.

I will post the verified SSR information when/if I get it.
