I find it really interesting the different perspectives on what will work in Monaco.

You have Redbull and Ferrari expecting the power advantage to be less here and Redbull to finally make a challenge. McLaren saying that downforce isn't as important so they will be competitive.

So my prediction given the shock of testing is Chilton to win in the Marussia given it has neither downforce or power

But realistically they are all talking nonsense. Engine power is engine power, doesn't matter if it's harder to use if you have it you have it and it will still be an advantage. Same for downforce, however slight, an advantage is still an advantage otherwise they could all just show up in road cars.

So the Mercedes will be the car to beat. And given to get the most out of the car on such a demanding circuit with no tolerance for error takes a confident, comfortable driver we're looking at Hamilton taking pole and I predict by a shocking margin.

The power advantage will be less, but the car that is fastest is still likely to achieve pole position and of course we all know that pole is everything at Monaco ... this race will be all about quali ... and IMO Rosbergs last chace to show he can be quicker than Hamilton, Rosberg goes very well around Monaco .... my opinion is Hamilton on pole Vettle second Ricciardo third ... Rosberg will try too hard and chuck it in a wall

Lewis Hamilton has never taken pole at Monaco - see this article.

Quite a short piece but what I found fascinating is the readers' comments, many and varied. All angles represented much as we see here. Too much to paraphrase easily but if you have a few minutes dig in.
