So apart from the essential benefits / appeal (answered) what deal were you able to do? Sub £20k new? (trade in?) Service free for five years?

oh and what is the range and your intended / planned usage? thoughts on specific 'long' trips? (assume you kept the S)

And why did you do it? Always swimming against the flow?

edit: strikes me you are just that bit closer to civilisation whereas 45 miles further in to East Anglia (NR20) I need the Barton Mills top-up/booster
p.s. or a Chippo cuppa and charge up

Crikey , list is around £39k got 4k off of that. Some dealers were offering less than £500
No free service but quoted £112 per annum . so not far off price for an E, which we both liked , but range would have her in a tizz

wife will most likely drive it more than myself , we have sons in sarf london one in Chelmsford , friends in Chalfont , so longer trips on the cards , the of course London Airports when one is picking up one super yacht charter !

claimed range 285 miles ! Real world to be seen , seen one review where in winter at night they were down to 160

whizzed up to kings lynn for lunch today in the S

tea and cake is availabe in Soham at chez Chippo

Lots of chargepoints around J30/31 M25 Thurrock Services main one being Gridserve row of 10 outside the Burger King.
Also several nearby backups inc Ballantynes (Instavolt) just outside Lakeside.
Gridserve sounds insanitary at best but power reliable.
All your trips look ok on range.
You'll be free to drive directly foc through any EZs.

Surprised you didn't get a better deal though. Er indoors must have liked it lots

ps, range if it is say the median of 280 and 160 i.e. 220 miles that is near twice the 'e' range and thus a game changer. Good call Chippo.
Nice to see the S still getting the top down opportunities. Lynn a nice town and not car phobic like Cambridge.

Well I did a lot of shopping around , don’t forget these are getting really good reviews , or is there some thing you know I don’t ! Lots of dealers virtually selling them at list , one having a fit when I told him what he had to beat to get the sale ! Best he would offer was £500 off , he reconned £4000 was more than his total mark up at list. He then did say that any one who looked landed up in Peterborough for a deal that he just couldn’t live with. He almost inferred that Smiths were on some sort of swindle with Reno

we are assuming range as you say on average around 200-220 , which removes most peoples average range anxiety. The more we charge at home and using excess PV makes it even better. Insurance companies are now in on the EV charger swindle , some stating that charger install must be done by certified company with test Cert , what ? And risk adverse wife had kittens when I said was sorting my self , it’s so simple an installation especially in our case as we have a small primary CCU with out RCD with two spare bays for charger MCB

yes Lynn is nice , nice pub lunch on water front , felt very continental. Cheap £3 all day parking , even cheaper when some one passed over ticket as we arrived ! Gravel car park just to up river end of town.

Be interesting to see how it goes. Nina likes the Kia EV6, did you look at those? Used e prices are now not clever apparently so while she wants to twist I wanna stick. High boot on the Kia sp dog would need a ramp I think

I haven't used it for a long jaunt, we just don't do them, moving 5 miles in a car in the UK feels a ****ing hassle ATM

We have roadworks on the school run, roadworks further into the city which can tail back to join the school runs ones, then they ****ed up the drains on a new £40m road so roadworks there too

Meanwhile you need moon lander suspension for the rest of the roads so most EVs are out

I am stealing arsies demeanour for this week

EV6 was far to expensive for us , we looked at NeroEV , but wife commented that interior was a bit “ to dad” lol, best discount I could get was £750 and delivery was around 3-4 months ! Nissan Qashqui e power had even worse delivery and that was a self charging hundred with a really odd three cylinder engine with variable compression . The Mazda 30 self charging Hybrid has A 750cc Wankel

very limited discounts available from Kia , seems prices are controlled from up on high dealers have little room to manoeuvre. They use this idea of agency rather than dealers , apparently a lot of other manufacturers are following this model now inc Reno come the end of the year.

the fen roads are despicable in places the Hasse Fen road have a few places where 10ish is a maximum unless u don’t mind all four wheels in the air! Must admit the Reno was by far the best ride and handling of the cars we tested , very quiet and comfortable.

the Google car system worked well to , been lots of comments recently about Tesla, VAG , BMW and Mercedes’ , all using pretty much thier own software which tends to be clunky and over reliant on touch screens and menus , almost as bad as using a mobile while driving. The Reno has a nice group of sensible buttons for heater and aircon control etc.

that’s dodgy stealing his demeanour ! See a doctor !

The e basically provides a screen and shuts up. I put a wireless charger in the centre console, I drop the phone on it and that's it. It works well but is sometimes a bit laggy on android auto.

Car makers writing software is not a good recipe so less = better imho. I doubt the e will ever get an update and I like that a lot.

Lots of noise on how car makers are looking enviously at Teslas model. My mate got offered a power upgrade for $. OTA. twats

That is sneaky..and irrelevant to these cars imo. The e is quick enough for a family car, it's not proper fun like my S and I'm down with that. Nor is a plaid I suspect. 2T of straight line boredom for £100k+? It might do 0-60 in sub 3 and I couldn't care less.

Anyway.. rennos are good for comfort, it's good news. The Leaf is like an M3.

The new leaf will have the same power train as does the Nissan Arya or what ever it’s called

they have changed from PM motors to excited stator coils which BMW is also going over to
