totally agree Nick, i really like the lateral thinking, they've ignored the herd... building an electric car which suits typical use rather than a compromise which has a headline number addressing range anxiety. be interesting to see if it catches on.

Amen to the above and management says it is the cutest. Flesh will tell.

For the odd long trip retain a fossil relic in working order

the e makes sense for my use on congested uk roads pissing about on school runs and i live pretty central guesstimates of 70 miles to east coast, 110 to heathrow, 50 ish to brum. the range would even get you to Wales should you desire rain and some light racism

probably right on infra too but we are amongst the countries most suited to EV adoption in europe, tiny, clogged, slow roads ans traffic. perfect. hope it has a good cabin filter

maybe i'm leaf blind, they are proper washing machine material imho.
i see more teslas. and dead people. ok, made that up.

i3 i seem to regularly see a couple on t'commute, they are ****ing hideous spaz wagons in my expert opinion . one takes great delight in using this bus/ulev lane they put in on the a612 at speed, undertaking all the traffic. the lane has anpr with accompanying fines but i've been using it on the bike for months as it ruined my middle of the road filtering by narrowing the lanes ... one section of it is covered in debris because.. no ****er uses it, no buses.. brilliant work

this illustrates my point, set that at about 125 miles to give a rough approx of range, albeit that is crow flies i believe it is supposed to do more..

My 2.4kWh modular house L-ion units weigh half a hundredweight in old money (28kgs) and 450x350x100mm. As such a bit too big and heavy for my uneducated self to be putting in the car but they are expandable and I added a fourth recently absolutely no problemo. I can see a solution to the range anxiety problem if you could just have a few units in normal runaround mode but then increase the range by adding a few and/or exchanging them at the destination butane/propane bottle style. Better than queuing up at a fast charge point behind some hybrid hogger

Move your centre to where I live and I can see I really need an amphibious option

One thing I picked up from that link of UF's was the Honda concept of universal interchangeable batteries.

For me add expand-ability and an option back seat driver battery pack and I could *really* be interested. Interesting that Honda may be thinking that way?

It's not a huge jump to leasing a fully charged battery on exchange .....

At least one of the many Chinese EV companies (Nio) has a whizzy automated ramp system for doing just that; you just swap the pack underneath.

But of course, it's still a bit of a faff.

Oh, and that 200 Km radius is fine at face value, but I presume you'd also like to get home again?

It also depends how honest Honda's range estimate is; most aren't very, so the range difference can be substantial between running around town on a mild day and whizzing up the motorway on a pissing wet, cold January evening - that 124 miles could be 80-90. BEVs are terrible at doing the latter and brilliant at the former.

Again, it all supports Honda's decision to go for a stylish, boutique urban gadabout rather than a bahnstormer. Of course the market may well not see that.
