To be fair Chris knows he could get it down by switching to an EV-friendly tariff but it's obviously not worth it to him overall. We have both (it seems to me) absorbed what little power we burn in our e's into the existing house consumption. Actually you don't have much choice given the crap charging infrastructure certainly for me here in the sticks. I think we both went into an 'e' expecting and planning to be low mileage trips-from-home users. Mine has recently dropped from 3.9 to 3.5 miles/kWh since the cold weather and using heating. Always set single-pedal softest setting. Also turn off the RDM security feature

Not using fossil much I tend not to understand or compare things in 'mpge'. Our Smart does 30mpg. The moho has gone nowhere for over a year so no data.

The 'e' gets dirty quickly and traps dirt in the sills easily, I don't *think* the drainage pathways are much improvement on the S2000 but rust is aways off yet. It seems to be by design that the water drips off onto the black sills and sits there

The e's battery contains roughly as much power in kWh as a gallon of squirt.

So it's roughly easy to compare.

True.. buts it's somewhat more efficient. I look at it as a gallon currently costs just over £5 and 35.5kw costs about the same
however Rog is getting it for far less with smart charging.

it's all irrelevant of course if you can't use the ****ing thing .. no school runs for 6 weeks here

Yes - it's a good demonstration of how terribly efficient is an e-motor.

Unfortunately the grid is less efficient, but that's another story.

At least stuck at home, you could charge it off a big solar array, which is only a bit inefficient. And expensive.

Our Smart Cabrio 998cc does - I am guessing - 40 to 45mpg maybe (I do need to check this as we have never really checked. Carol never lets it get near empty so a typical top up is £25 or less (a drop in the ocean after filling up M3s much less the moho). If 7 gallons is the full tank capacity (33 litres) then range is 280-315 miles per tankful (i.e. £35 at Jason's £5/gallon).

My 'e' has done 500 miles on 4 tankfuls (135kWh) at a cost of £8 i.e. 300 miles for the cost of £5 (one gallon) is that what you mean by 'mpge' @Nottm_S2? Nor do I poor thicko find this helps (or was it just expressing that it is futile to make comparisons) @Nick Graves "The e's battery contains roughly as much power in kWh as a gallon of squirt. So it's roughly easy to compare"??

My conclusion is that for me the 'e' costs naff all to run on home fuel (ignoring the capital cost of the fuel pump!) Less than £10 in three months. £50 for twice the miles as per @chris111would still be feck all. As for charging it off a PV array, today I have harvested 1.8KWh (about one tenth my best days of summer) and it would have taken weeks for one charge from 20-80%. Having a wind turbine wouldn't have done me much good either.

The Smart costs about £10/week on fuel (guessing) and we don't notice that either. Who ever is nearest fills it up. Mileage has varied we used just the Smart before I sold the S (mid August) and until the 'e' came along. I can probably do some anal looking at the Smart from the service/MOT date in July forward to date and go back over our accounts for petrol fill ups. Or are comparisons futile?

Yeah mpge is basically take the price of a gallon and see how far that will get you in your BEV
So a gallon is 526p at the mo, if you pay 15p per kw that is 35kw and if that gets you 100miles of shifty you are at 100mpge

Where the M3 did 18.. that would be it's range on the e battery
now.. if you drive down the price of your kw, which you can unlike petrol.. boom. And it flattens the demand so helps renewables like wind which are going at night. Potentially
Plus you can get free juice as discussed
Here is what yours looks like clean btw.. I nicked this off that FB group. Ahem

Wrong.

Those are 17" wheels with the faux chrome spokes.

Also the rear number plate has been installed a tad too high. Perfection doesn't take much

It is very clean and shiny though. Taken this summer before the rain and the mud on our roads. Not to mention pigeons flying over with upset tums ...
