What are the pros and cons to Gears? also what gear is best? Iv'e heard from 4.3 to 4.57 to 4.77. combo?
Improves torque throughout entire rpm band due to shorter gearing. Quicker acceleration from low speeds.
cons
or i guess you can think f them as cons to some.)Faster shifting
decreased top speed
higher rpms at highway cruising speeds
honestly there really are no cons to gears
4.3's will give you almost no change in performence so they are not worth it. 4.57 are best choice for street as well as track use(most favored out the s2k crowd), and 4.77s are mainly recommended for track use as they will greatly reduce gearing and top speed. higher you go in number...he quicker you shift and the less top end you have.
Pretty nice...I really like the Tracy Sports header, as well as the Berk Header. I'll probably go with the Megan header first though, when I do decide to get a header. It'll be awhile though.
J's header is the shit
I vote for 4.77s - there really isn't any less streetability. My car is almost stock at the moment, except for a hondata gasket and the gears. Freeway cruising is just fine. With exhaust, the 4.77s bring your rpms up high enough out of the drone range too. They are effing FAST! They'll put you in the low 13s - no amount of N/A tuning will give you that benefit under 5 or 6K.
