Q: Blocking airflow into the bay have any advantage for non-ITB setups? I do have a vented hood.

I agree with the above, stock intake is just fine especially if you simply replace the filter with a K&N variety and add either a snorkle or AUT design cooling plate.

That big plastic wall isn't causing problems, as noted, gutting it shows zero gains, the air guide from the front of the box actually puts air into that chamber.
I have to agree with this, when I did my K&N FIPK It was a wash, maybe 3hp but hell that could be attributed to a different ambient temp/press. Sure did sound nice though. From what Ive dont I think the K&N gains are inconclusive compared to the stock piece. Flow wise I believe it is neglible, and I will not accept manufacturer claims on ANY part.

Really, you are just blocking heated air from the radiator. This is something you will only see in a setup where your intake pulls air behind the radiator. The only intake scenerios I can think of that would have this issue would be the PRM or ITBs off the top of my head, possibly a few others. Intakes that are well isolated behind the radiator and pull air from in front of the radiator likely wouldn't be as likely to pick up that hot air in a way that could actually kill hp. This ties in with what I said about heat management and the cooling effect from a vehicle at speed. When the fan sucks that hot air away from the radiator it throws it right at your ITBs, PRM, etc. Long story short, the K&N, Js, Spoon, AEM, etc. would not be effected.

Thanks. You should have seen my contorted face as I tried to imagine how it would help my setup!

Okay, I would love to see a back to back graph on the same day on the same dyno from a thrid party. I know what happend when I dynoed mine. In my opinion I think the K&N is one of the best things out there for sure, the roto-molded intake pipe is great and so is the heat sheild. I just dont think it does anything besides drop weight and sound awesome. Two important things in my opinion, even if it makes no power.

[QUOTE=BlownAP,Jan 31 2007, 04:57 PM] I will get that for you tomorrow.....

I am also thinking about doing it again too, just for kicks.

My baseline was 211WHP and with the FIPK I peaked at 215-216WHP, 10-20 times, my A/F's did not change one bit.

I am in the process of making a bastard child intake,
