the Official "NA Tuning" thread
[QUOTE=zbrewha863,Mar 19 2006, 05:12 PM] Vladamir you're an idiot -
First you flame Sam's "for sale" post on the Mugen CF hardtop b/c anything that isn't European or Italian isn't "baller", and start talking about how rich you are
- then you write a post saying that you've overrevved and bent your valves, and that you're going to buy a 745Li instead
- then you buy a Megan Racing header, which goes for about $240 on eBay.

Ok well lets let bygones be bygones then....
If you have to pay $1500 to fix the head anyway, why not get head work done at the same time? The S2000 head flows well as-is, but anything can be improved upon and if you're going to stay N/A with the car, it's a great opportunity to unleash some power. Plus if your car is still under warranty, chances are you can get the dealership to pay for the majority of the bill since they will be outsourcing the head work anyway. Elsewhere in this thread there are some good references for ... head work ...
Also good luck with starting your company, me and an associate started one 4 years ago and it's tough work, but very rewarding if you know what you're doing.

I hit 50,000 miles 6 months ago no warranty am at 66,000 now. I wanted to get cams,valves springs and valves. Most people told me not worth it. Also i was told I was better off buying bolt ons.
The megan header from I read makes great power. I want to see if this is true. I'll get it dyno. If it makes more power great if it doesnt it was only 350 bucks shipped I can always sell it off and buy the J's. Who knows it could be a better product then the J's Racing one.

Second...yes many people say its not worth it to get cams, larger valves, porting, valve springs, etc. but to tell you the truth, these people haven't done it. If they haven't done it, or don't have any proof that it does nothing, then dont believe them. It is proven that doing this kind of work always makes gains on other cars. So many think the S2000 is so different. So many think the S2000 is already maxed out. Well, what we are doing is proving those people wrong. The gains may not be incredible, the motor is EXTREMELY well built from the factory...but it CAN be improved. And to get a 30hp gain just by bolt ons is a lot. I hope for another 15-20hp with headwork, bottom end work, and compression raised. I think it is very reasonable...especially with cams that bring more air into the engine. Longer duration, and more lift...
I'm sorry for the rant...I just need more money so that I can get to my goal, prove people wrong, and have actual proof that changing things works

Yeah agreed 100% most people with cams dont have enough compression or bottom end work. Thats why it wasnt worth it for me. When my motor is fully built I'll prob go ahead and do this. I wanted to do the Toda A but was told 3k for 11 WHP? Not worth it maybe if I run some B's or C's when I have more compression it will be more then 11WHP.
