s2000NVegas: ASE cert means very little. After going to school for automotive technology, you just have to basically be decent with your hands and good at remembering random information. I actually cared about learning, and even taught my instructors some things. Yes, I'm Master Certified as well. :-P I also graduated from one of the top schools in the country with an Automotive Technology degree with a 4.0GPA, 97% lab competency, Perfect Attendance, Student of the Course awards in 5 courses (4 of which were electronics and driveability courses), and was an Alpha Beta Kappa nominee, turned down Porsche for training at their school in Atlanta, halfway through a Computer Engineering degree, currently work for a tuning shop, worked for a computer store starting at age 15, got 102% in my AP Computer Science class in HS, have been tuning SAFC/VAFCs, Hondata (Chrome/Uberdata), Power FC, etc. since I was 17. So I feel I'm pretty competent in this and many other areas.

silver9k, you're right on track. I was relating the "memory" thing to having a long term fuel trim that adds or removes a certain amount of fuel from the base map. I was just saying exactly what you said, there is no change to timing from the base map programmed in unless the knock sensor or crank sensor says to change it.

versionJDM, you're welcome. Let me know if you need any other help. I'd like to see this thread heading in the right direction.

well, see we are of the same ilk. intelligent folk. my list is as long as yours, but i was building motors, and tuning nitrous and suspension on big cars at the track. i got into computer controls after getting out of school, and aceing the management courses, and smog classes for diag and driveablity. ive always been very good with this area. i did a bit of college also, took a compressed AAS course, 2 years college degree, finished in 16 weeks.
the one thing i will disagree on, ase's mean a ton. many shops wont even hire you if your not master ASE, and you cant get any form of emissions certification unless you have a8, and L1. so to tell me they mean very little, shows a tad of closed mindedness, or you work for an independant. which youve said you do. dont let them water down the fact that you have ASE's ive heard the trash mechanics say for years,, ASE's dont mean shet sonny. and i own them at diag, and most other parts of whats going on.

wow...its impressive, and yes mustang dynos do typically read lower, but its mainly based on the "tuners" calibrations...appears he has it calibrated so it reads more like dynojet numbers that everybody like better.

Either way...your car is strong, probably more of a factory freak. However 213 might be pushing it a little, I'm not saying your are drastically lower but probably 208-210...nothing I'd argue about I only say this because of how choppy the dyno gets above about 8000rpms, it appears that if you drew a "line of best fit" through the peaks and valleys it would top out closer to 208-210. Now I would say to keep claiming your 213 since you have the number on a dyno sheet...but know that realistically it should be slightly lower.

ie. when I go get my car tuned, it should read around 225-230 since it will be on a dynapack...but I know that this dyno reads a little higher so I won't really be making that much.

Not related* Also, I'm not trying to act smart here, but I'm speaking from my knowledge...many people agree with what I say as I'm pretty much right on with my plans and ideas. I simply know what I'm talking about...I try my best to not post false information...when I don't know I don't post - typically

either way i am really hoping that a test pipe and vfac gets me 10rwhp. i am just unsure of my vfac tuning ablities....i agree with you, if i can even out that afr line, power will be made.

I meant it doesn't take much to get the certs. Any Joe Shcmoe with a GED can do it.
