I've got a bunch of apps to move over:

web based... so this will work well in the mall. sounds like a plan to give money to the old school phone providers. as they need it? since when are the gsx data rates > than 1200 baud. extra special.

i am planning to buy one. are these going to be on sale at the apple stores or cingular locations. also, do you guys think these will be sold out immediately?
I got on a wait list 3 months ago, and they disallowed it recently.
this phone will sell out before 7pm. they are shutting down stores for 2 hours just to prepare for the lines. i want one, i just don't want to wait in that kind of a line for it. i will probably try getting it online, i gotta find a t1 somewhere.
as for the size and screen... treos are the same way, you break that screen and it is done. when those were first released, they also cost $500 and don't even have as much to offer as an iphone, so why wouldn't this thing sell? people talk of the steep price, but you are getting your moneys worth. how much is an ipod, $300? how much is a phone that has built in wi-fi and is touch screen, $400-500? that is 700-800 worth of phone you get for $500. i do disagree with the non-replaceable battery, but whatever right. and the size, this is thinner and smaller than any other smartphone, less than half the size of the current treo so it should slip right into your pocket without you even noticing. if you want to protect it, get a pro-tech shield with a martin fields screen protector, i'm sure there will be some new cases for this thing to protect it.
like it or not, it is worth the money. if you don't like it don't buy it, stick with the free phones they give you at your carrier. if you only use your phone to make calls get a moto or something similar. its almost like saying why get a rolls royce when you get around in a hyundai just as good, well there are a lot more comforts in that rolls that you don't get in the hyundai. also, if you think it is overpriced, you should see its current competition's sales price. check the lg prada that cost upwards of $1000.
just my .02

Apple just took care of the battery and screen complaints.

I have waited for what seems like forever for the 29th to come. I have even stuck with sucky Verizon just so that I'll be a new customer and get THE deal.
I'll sign a 4-6 year contract if it gets the price down.

ok, though i work for Verizon, and you all think i am here to bash the iphone that is not my intent.
I love the Iphone, I think it is going to do really well. The problem i see is this.
it is too big for the average consumer. Remember how phones use to be really big, and people wanted it smaller so it didn't look like they were carrying a brick with them? well, the IPhone is about the size of one. For those people who carry a BB or a Treo, you tell them. Do you really want to go to the beach, the movies, a bar..etc.. with one attached to your hip? How about you ladies? try fitting an IPhone inside a clutch. I would imagine you carrying a cluch with you go out, instead of a huge sack. Otherwise, size is fine for you.
The outside screen. How many people already scratched or broke their IPod screen? imagine you breaking your IPhone a few weeks or months later. The entire phone is touch pad. It will not work if the LCD is cracked so how will you use it? you just bought yourself a 600 coaster.
Battery life, With all the advanced gagets Steve Jobs threw into the IPhone, you would think he would allow you to attach an external battery, but nooooo... hopefully some aftermarket company will create a way to use one.
Data quality. WiFi is great, if you plan on staying at a starbucks or Barnes and Noble. But when you travel, EDGE is pretty darn slow.
WHY DO PEOPLE REALLY NEED ALL THAT STUFF???
do we really need something that will do everything for us? serious.. i rather have something simple, and if i want to listen to music, get a MP3 or IPod, camera, i have my SLR, organizer, write it down... granted, an all in one device sounds nice, but i rather not put everything into one basket and risk the chance of losing all my data...
On that note, i hope VZ does come out with that IPhone Killer that LG has... would be nice to offer up something to compete against ATT?Cingular?whatever new name they want next month?

It seems like the IPhones call quality is hit or miss.
