Bad parents come from all parts of society, not just lower income families.

Keep the peace? Its humorous that you mention "peace" especially when there are weekly public school shootings or stabbings or other forms of violence that takes place nationwide. I guess these rules aren't working that good?

I never said unsensible rules has anything to do with graduation rates, I'm simply stating a fact.

No cell phones during lunch is really neccesary? And why shouldn't we second guess these public school teachers? If one of them tells you to jump off the bridge, I bet you would do it just because they told you to.

Sure they do. Typically parents of private school students are more involved and stress academic achievement much more so then parents of public school students.

http://nces.ed.gov/pubs2005/crime_sa...dicator_01.asp

Click on table1.1 and learn a thing or two.

the violent death rate is cut in half from 92

only 14 kids in the 2001-2002 school year actually more teachers and staff where killed by students 17 then the kids but regardless death rate cut in half so your making bogus claims.

click on the tables 2002 cut all incidences in half from 92.

Take a look, the facts are what I said.

The school system is in better shape now then the early 60's. So I doubt not being able to use a cell phone is having that huge negative impact. Actually i see that tightened rules are have a positive impact on crime/homoside in our children. you might want to check facts out for yourself rather then just regergetationg what people want you to believe.

Mav, lets just get out of this conversation because we are wasting our time with one person who does not listen and just spews crap and groundless statements.

exceltoexcel,
Terms like love, respect, and responsability are words that mean something different for different people. I honestly believe that if I had never seen my father and he called during a lunch break, I would pick up and nothing would stop me from doing so. Mind you that I am not you so you may feel that your lunch is more important than a good talk with someone who cares about you. As for responsability, it is my observation that all people demonstrate the same ammount throught their whole lives. What defines our personality is our experience and exposure to the world and all of the personalities in it. Responsability, in essence, is the processing ability to take what one has learned an apply it to future situations. Of course this is still all fluid but it is my belif. Oh, on a side note, the point of an argument is to stur up emotional responces. So, when you attempt to make a refutative statement again dont state the obvious, make a point.

Here's the stats

from the us department of justice.

VIOLENT CRIME IS WAY DOWN!

But to actually try to say that there is a correlation between denying cell phone access and school violence is the most obsurd thing I've ever heard.

I see no fact in these sentences

I imagine it is very disruptive and IT IS RUDE! I don't want to hear your cell phone ring while I'm eating at a restaurant why should we allow teenagers who are even more likely to be rude and have many calls during their lunch hour to learn this rude practice of using the cell phone in public places inappropriately. If I get a call during a restaurant visit I either go outside, something the school obviously can't allow, or I turn the phone off. Next thing you know I'll be hearing 100 cell phones go off in the movie theater because its "mom calling from iraq" or "it's my boyfriend i broke up with 10 days ago" honestly the boyfriend call has higher priority in most teenagers lives then the mother calling.

Because you have no kids! Because you have no idea what it's like to try to teach kids. Because you don't have to deal with the problem day in and day out and they do. Because they know more about teaching kids than you.

Can you find the personal restraint to knock this off.
Maybe, maybe not. In my personal experience, this is not the case.

Your stats prove nothing. I'm referring to school violence not violent crimes overall. Violence crimes occur far less often in private school than public schools. When was the last time there was a shooting at private school? I can't even recall one incident. When was the last crime there was a shooting at a public school? There was one last week.

Dn't put words in my mouth. I never said there was a correlation between cell phone access and school violence.

No fact? 100% graduation and college rate in my private high school. What is the graduation and college rate of the average public school? I'm sure it won't be 100%.

Cell phones in movie theaters are annoying but in restaurants? If you are seriously brothered than don't go out to eat ever again because cell phones are everywhere.

Well actually I do have some insight about teaching kids. I was a summer camp counselor once so I do know what its kinda like to teach them and deal with their problems on a daily basis. Now before you stick words in my mouth, I am NOT saying I do know how to teach kids but I'm saying I have some insight.

No.

I give you stats from the us department of justice and the goverments education department statistics and you think they aren't facts?

maybe you think they bury all the dead kids bodies in the back to cover up the stats?

These are the school facts and they are down! click on the tables and you'll see cut from 50% to 66% for some school crimes.
Homicies are down from 37 to 14 a year

If they only had 14 in 2002 where are all these stabbings and shootings your talking about? Must be bad shots.

MY IGNORANCE?

You guys keep talking about rising school violence when theres a HUGE drop in school violence. It's been cut in half and in some case it been cut in a third. Seems you need to reevaluate whos ignorant here.

WHERE DO YOU PULL YOUR FACTS FROM? I have a feeling, from your ass.

The Media times 100?

Seriously where are your facts to back up your claims?

Your experience. Hum guess you were in High school between 1992 and still there.

Yeah the department of justice has a stake in reporting artificially higher numbers if anything so they can keep getting higher funding.

The education department has the same stake so they can get even more funding.

Do you really think the media would let the government get away with reporting such low numbers? Please it would be exposed in a heartbeat.

Your back peddling. Conspiracy theories are a good sign the you want to believe something that isn't true. Just because you've built some of your point of view on discredited "facts".
