What's the fastest you've been in a car?
Song:
Now that you mention it as well... On a bicycle.... 64mph in a 55mph zone descending in Colorado.
We were trying to get a ticket (is that a first) from the cop that we knew was hanging our right close to Pikes Peak.
He knew what we were up to and just laughed.
My buddies and I wanted to get the tickets to frame them as trophies.
Those were the days.

100 mph in my '93 Prelude VTEC and it was legal! The Prelude felt calm and solid and no where near its limits.
I drove from Sheridan to Billings a couple years ago when "reasonable and prudent" was the legal limit in Montana.
It was "reasonable and prudent" because it was a clear day with dry roads, no traffic, no hills, and my car and tires were in top shape. I've seen friends ticketed on occasions when any one of the above conditions wasn't met.
Alas, now the speed limit in Wyoming and Montana is 75 and I've been 80 mph in my new S2K, top down, with the revs below 5000 the day I bought it.
My most IMPRESSIVE ride was in a friend's '66 or '67 Shelby AC Cobra 427 (real Cobra--not a replica) and even though we were only going 60 it was loud and felt FAST! He sometimes races it at the vintage race in Aspen, Colorado and if he finishes he wins.
Come to think of it, the Shelby Cobra doesn't even have a soft top or does it?
Here's a question for the Stook high speed drivers. Is the rear spoiler purely cosmetic or does it actually help the car perform at high speed?

wishing for "reasonable and prudent" again

I think I hit 100mph once.
Did 75-80mph on back roads in Salem, NH in the old man's 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS about five or six years ago. That, my friends, was a ride!!!
Of course I didn't get to DRIVE it, but...

OK, not that I condone it, but I think that krazik said that he did 100mph between Granite creek and Mount Hermon in the wee hours of the morning. This is actually possible.
If you are southbound on 17, the winding road breaks at the north side of Scotts Valley (Granite Creek) and you have about a 2 mile stretch of 2 lane, relatively straight freeway until the south side of Scotts Valley (Mount Hermon). So even though it's questionable to go that fast on a 2 lane with a barrier, it is possible in that stretch.

140mph in my parent's Buick Estate station wagon in the early 80's. My older brother, who had just gotten his driver's license, was driving. Happened on IH10 in Houston at 2am.
Something I won't forget!
