More than happy to share, I certainly don't want anyone to get ripped off.

Why do you all prefer the 8500 X50 over the Bel RX65? I was thinking they are basically equal per this review:
http://radartest.com/article.asp?articleID=9090
However, the RX65 has Voice alerts, which I thought made it superior. Anything I'm missing, or is it just personal preference?
I actually want an RX65 but it doesn't seem to be available in my area.

I turn the volume off on my V1 and just notice the lights and arrows in the corner of my eye if it lights up. There goes the "too loud" argument.

First off, I did a search and didn't find anything relating to this topic within the past few years, so I thought I'd start a new one.
Best is always subjective. You need to find the RD that suits you best and that's precisely where the 30 day trials (make the most of them!) offered by the major manufacturers come in. I personally prefer the V1. YMMV.

If you're looking into Escorts I'd seriously suggest that you do some research into Truelock. It's great on paper but it's known to have issues with locking out police radar under certain situations.

Rather than poke around on S2000 forums I highly recommend that you read up on radar detector forums.

Escort Passport 8500 + ZR3 shifter!
If you're going to get jammers then the ZR3's are definitely not best in class.

I was actually at a laser jammer testing session today where ZR3's clearly underperformed other brands and failed to alert to at least 1 of the 7 guns that we had on hand. I think it was the Laser Atlanta in stealth mode.

Again, do your homework before buying countermeasures.

Craig Peterson is infamous in the RD community for his bias. I'd seriously recommend further research on him before relying on his site for a purchase decision. Even Escort fans admit to his bias.

It can be difficult determining what sources you can and can't trust out there but it's not unlike doing any research on the net. Corroborate data and vet sources the best you can.

Thanks for the heads up, but it came with the car! Any recommendations on other jammers, should I decide to replace the setup?

Ah ok. You might be in pretty good shape as is or with the addition of Veil. Luckily, the S is a pretty small car. You'd probably be better off if you can find a local group running a jammer test. Performance with these things is one part hardware and one part install. Getting one or the other wrong can make a huge difference.
