and 12"x16". that sounds about right... it isn't much space there... i know both of my amps couldn't squeeze in there b/c they were a bit long...
what you may need to consider doing is this:
check out this Phoenix Gold Tantrum 600.4
it's been mounted by at least 2 people in that spot. (here's a thread w/ some pics of it) that should cover your highs and the sub (maybe not the e10a.22 though... you'll only get a 1 or 4 ohm load out of it... ) maybe consider the e10o.44 instead? it could be wired to present a 2 ohm total load, and would fit perfectly w/ a 300 Wrms sub channel, given a slightly larger enclosure...
Box Size / Type : O.75cF Sealed
Power Recommendation : 200-650 WRms
Box Size / Type : 1.OcF Sealed
Power Recommendation : 150-450 WRms
then find a smallish amp that can fit INSIDE the spare tire... this has also been done before. use the smaller amp to power the rears...
i think the inner diameter of the spare is like 15" , so something on the order of 12" wide should fit nicely...
maybe something like this Phoneix Gold Octane-R 2.5:2?
feedback? thoughts?
regarding powering speakers... it's always nice to have a little power in surplus, but there are no laws against underpowering the speakers a bit... given that the focals are very sensitive, i wouldn't worry too much about running 75Wrms to them.
let me find some reference materials that explain things better than the whole fat kid in a pool thing...
PJK3,
Thanks for taking so much time with me and this project, between you, FFR, NFR, not to mention Darkknight who sold me his enclosure, and home equity lines, I will build the perfect system. I can't thank you guys enough.
I'd rather go with their top line amps. If not, then to the XTANTS which also have a great reputation.

LOL
I think I've got a pretty good handle on Watts and powering speakers. It's what fits in my trunk that has me lost, because my Trunk in Joliett, Illionois right now and I'm in sunny FL with the FLU.
well, i can tell you one thing for sure... the trunk is smaller than you think... seriously, you may want to take a tape measure to a local dealer and look around...
the reason Skip measured to the swing arm on the trunk, is because when the trunk closes, that arm just about entirely uses that space... you couldn't get the Xtant in there for that reason... the trunk hinge would hit it. were you looking at the refurbed X1001 or the new one? for $1k, you can get a LOT of sub amp.
the A4004T might fit in that corner... i'm not completely sure at the moment. i'm guessing you're looking at that bridged for highs?
and the Xtant 2.2 (50x2) looks to be small enough to fit into the spare tire (if you wanted to use it to power rears).
(i'm still of the mind that a nice set of fronts and a sub is all you need, i'm just trying to work w/ your options.)
the cubbie hole you're referring to behind where you have the X1001 is tiny... i don't think you could get much under there but maybe a crossover or two? probably a distribution block? not much...
what might not be a bad idea to do (and it helped me visualize out my system), is to cut some cardboard flats out that approximately measures the size of your various amp choices... then take it to the dealer and try to work things around in a trunk...
good idea,
what about mounting the amps to the trunk lid, as Darkknight did?!
At this point I feel that I should go with smaller amps.
BTW I was thinking Refurbished, to keep costs down.
And if i need to do an additional amp and buy the spods I might can the rears.
Thats was I was going to suggest you do. Id take like a 900.7 or something like it and mount it under the trunk lid. That would look great! and save trunk space.
i think there were disadvantages to the amp being up there (weight and issues w/ opening and closing being the main ones...) talk to him, as i'm sure he has good input.
The biggest thing about installing them up there is weight. The lid become very heavy afterwards. Don't get me wrong its looks killer and it does save trunk space but... you'll need to devise a way to hold up the trunk lid once your done.
I don't think putting amps on the trunk lid would work for me. This car is going to be a daily driver and my wife may not take the care to close the trunk slowly. Plus aftermarket mods will make the car "BLING!" but eat at my wallet. Building a mechanism to hold the lid up and for it to close slowly isn't appealing. Neither is the "Hey there shady stranger, look at my amps!"
SO, I'll get smaller amps I think...
I talked to the installer in tampa and he says that Phoenix Gold is the way to go over Xtant, plus he can cut me a deal on them.
So these are the amps I'm looking at:
SUB:
Phoenix Gold Ti 600.2
150W x 2 @ 14.4V
600W x 1 @ 14.4V
16 L x 10.0 W x 2.25 H
FRONTS:
Phoenix Gold Ti 400.2
100W x 2 @ 14.4V
400W x 1 @ 14.4V
12.25 L x 10.0 W x 2.25 H
Plan A:
I think that 600.2 will fit, it is 16 inches long but if I bring the amp stand towards the back of the car, I can gain the few inches I need. I plan on putting the Amps in like so:
PLAN B:
But if it's too much of a squeeze, and it might be, I can go with Ti400.2 and bridge it for the sub. But If I do that I might want to get a different sub that doesn't need as much juice. Any recomendations? I like my bass tight and fast with some balls but not so much as to rattle the doors off. I prefer quality over quantity.
It's hard for me to only give my sub 400 watts. But it is a sportscar, not an Audiophile van.
