I think Mike Laskey told me once that one of the reasons was better cooling and because Honda designed it that way...

Congrats Kev!! You can hit 500 on 91 Pump with this no problem!
Isnt there a risk of cylinder shake when you get to really high HP with the sleeves this way?

Yes, i think the Full Race manifold would be the easiest to convert over from my current log. I *hoping* the downpipe will only need minor modification if any. That thing cost me over a G to make including the cutout.

You had a wastegate failure Paul? Was that why your boost was going crazy?

I wouldnt go with Tial, I trust Turbosmart a lot more.. I will however check out those new Tail gates right now.
I haven't taken out the manifold yet. I only thought of it being a possibility after you found your tear. I also looked at the dip (that we saw with Mase) and didn't see it in the Bisi dyno/videos as bad as it was @ autowave. I'm thinking its the wastegate too

I haven't checked yet. It's kinda PITA because you have to install the WG/dump, turbo, mani as one piece...
I'm dropping the oil pan tonight... hopefully I won't find any bearing chunks

I'm not familiar with cylinder shake, but I can see why that would be a concern since it's "open". It must have really tight tolerances. I think that's why all the blocks are made PERSONALLY by Dan Benson, no one else touches it. We've also seen 600hp on the stock block. And dan has the most experience with sleeving Honda blocks, since he was the first to do it!

Yeah, I agree, either that or the mase hotside. I know soul coughing did a revhard to full race swap a while back.

I am not sure if it is more work to do a full race manifold and move the battery and fuse box. Or go mase and keep them and relocate other things?

Are you really gonna do this?

Spoolin, please read up on Benson sleeves... They are definitely good stuff.
Here are some links to Bensons own site as well as Laskeys site where the motor was assembled.

I have been giving a LOT of thought to different hot sides... Inline Pro, Full Race and Forged Performance..
With the Full Race only the battery would need to be relocated, I could just re position the fuse box and then get some good heat shielding like Paul (SAREK) has..

From the kits I have seen, Full Race would put me right in the power range I want to be and at 20 pounds or less.. TQ in the 350+ ft/lb range..

I figure with my current log I could maybe get low 300's if I push it, but I think the Full Race is good for 50 Ft/lbs over my log on the same boost level.

My diaphragm in my blow off valve was torn and causing all my problems, not my wastegate.

Good luck on the car tonight Paul.

I don't know Kevin are you really prepaired to go with the Full Race?

Paul had to put on the heat sheilding, you will need to relocate the battery and AC Lines at minimum.

I'd have to get the same shielding but only for the manifold IMO.. Then relocate the battery to the frame rail and of course ac lines through the fender relocation..

Yeah it's a lot to think about.

tolerances are pretty tight with benson.
