This is a question mostly focused on the supercharged guys, though in terms of longevity I'd love to hear from anyone with experience.

I'm taking a good hard look at going to a lightweight LiFePO4 battery, as my old lead acid is on its last legs anyway. The Shorai and Battery Tender are the only ones I've come across, but with almost no mention of the Battery Tender one. Does anyone that is supercharged have experience with either of these batteries? Do they have the oompf to get the engine fired up reliably?

My car isn't daily driven, and while I'm not wild about having to keep a battery tender hooked up, the $100 premium and 24lb weight savings are probably worth that sacrifice, so long as it will be reliable. I'd also like to know I can trust it for more than 2 years, but I don't think either has been on the market long enough to have any data to that regard.
I don't have experience with either of those, but I had one of those Deka AGM batteries for a long time in my supercharged S. I never had a single issue with it, even when it sat for a week + between autocrosses. It would crank right up, albeit sometimes a little slower to turn over. Even in cold weather (car was kept in a garage so it wasn't ever freezing or anything). I know there are a few others who run these batteries in the FI forum. You could also check the RC forum as many of them run smaller batteries.
Thanks for the input. I also looked at the Deka AGM's, but was worried about starting power with the added s/c drag. Which Deka did you use? I'm thinking the extra cost for a Lithium may be worth it if it's lighter than the AGM's while still having more power. I think the Deka I settled on was 17lb, while the Lithium batteries are around 5lb.

Hey thanks, never came across the stinger battery before today. I actually read that batt install post of yours a few days ago - slick setup.

Deka makes a lot of batteries for other companies. I know Braille batteries are made by deka. If you get the stinger like I have and plan on storing the car, get the ctek battery charger for lithium batteries. Mine is hooked up to one now since I don't drive the S much. It simply hooks up to the positive and negative terminals and you're done. From there it goes through a 8-9 cycle process from checking battery condition to maintaining its voltage.

If you dont want to switch a lot of stuff, just try getting it tuned on e85.

Andy made 30whp more on a comptech n1000 with a 3.2" pulley just by switching to e85. Nothing else changed except for a tune.
I agree, but I want to solidly hand it to him as he has been giving excesses for years for all the times I beat him.

As for an e85 switch, I'm currently at 79% duty cycle and Im not certain I have enough room left for it.

I bought a supercharger kit that does not have an aftercooler, however, it does have an intercooler. I don't know if those are the same, I guess they are. But does someone know if that'll be ok for my AP1?

The kit is Comptech stage 1 (Novi 1000). I've heard that stage 1 Comptechs do not require tuning and can be run on stock ECU, stock fuel pump and injectors. CMIIW

Another added question: Would valve retainers and springs be upgraded in order to avoid floating from running stage 1 CT S/C?

Thanks

Running a intercooler is fine. But you might have a little drop of boost since it as a longer piping. There are pros and cons in both after and inter coolers.

If you run the basic pulley for ap1 (6psi ) and no other mods like tp,header, exhaust you should be ok with the RRFPR,fuel pump and ESM. Although it is not a great way to fully optimise and and enjoy the SC.

The retainers are another subject not related to the SC. But if you have an ap1 and don't know it's full history you should consider upgrading to the ap2's

Will adding a sc make my exhaust quieter? I believe I've read before that a turbo would but I imagine that's due to using exhaust to spool the turbo. Just curious and hoping the sc may quiet down the car a little.

Yes, you will not even be able to hear the exhaust after you install a SC...crickets baby!

aftercooler is air to water and intercooler is air to air. The aftercooler is more efficient in terms of boost loss....and is technically not an aftercooler, but a heat exchanger. I sounded kind of intelligent there...got to go get another drink.

probably...ok so not that intelligent. LOL Either way, I have never heard anyone saying that the air/air (intercooler) was good, except for the guy selling it.
