SURE AN s2k can be like any drag car..it just depends on how u set it up..also go check out the racing and competition forum coz its been talked about there many times...

anyway, heres mine..its not a 4.77 thou

mods first:
4.44FG, 2 way lsd, drive shaft shop aluminum light weight propeller, act flywheel and act HD PP with 6 pad disc, toda header, 70mm tp,70mm single cat back, modified airbox, some cooling mods..245/45 toyo ra1 tires on 16x8 on all four..and after about 200lb weight reduction...the lowest i got is 13.4 in a 1320 drag strip.... and 8.6 on an 1/8mile drag strip..and yea my car has a negative 3degrees camber on all four..so a little traction was lost (dont know if this has a big effect), but i lowered the rear tire pressure to about 15-17psi...this was done last year at Cali speedway and irwindale speedway...the time is got was ok considering the car was not setup for drag but mainly for turns, but it did ok imo...

right now i have the hondata toda reflash for my06, and some CF doors, and some CF lightweight bucket seats..so im expecting to hit 13 flat or a high 12sec....

il try to fing the time slips and post it....

I ran side by side with a car with 4.77s and we had identical times. 4 runs in a row.

He had to shift an extra time.

IMO the best gears for drag are the 4.44's. You dont have to shift to 5th, that one shift right at the end really kills you.

i agree with this...i have 4.44 on my06 nd 4.56 on my03..they pull equally the same from the start but the my06 with 4.44 takes it all the way from 3rd gear to the last gear...

i really dont get why some s2k owners get the 4.77..its only good at start coz u feel the big grunt pull vs. other gear ratio..i never had a 4.77 but i drove a few with one, and honestly none of them had ever beat me yet, even if sometyms they get me at launch...

i say 4.44 is very good for ap2 and 4.56 is exellent on ap1's....but this is just me, and for my 2 s2ks i wont go any other way..and some other s2k owners with a higher FD ratio myt not agree with me coz there set up might complement their other choice of gear ratio(i.e. 4.77)...

also, i think drag slicks are some bfg drag radials on an s2k would be a killer too even without changing the final gears....

i am saving for some BF goodrich drag radials DOT street legal tires and another pair of rota 16x8 slipsstream for the rear so i can just easily swap them out when i go to the 1320 drags or 1/8 mile drags...

and hopefully this hondata reflash that i just got and my other weight reduction technique will help a lot....il be really glad to hit 13 flat or high 12's when i finish my setup for this coming summer.

More fun to drive around in the city, but for drag racing theyre not the best gears to get, youll find yourself shifting alot more and sooner.

And if you spun 2nd and 3rd then you need some new tires or something, cause unless your boosted then theres no way you can spin all of 2nd or 3rd.

This has been gone over too many times now, people argue both ways here and they end up saying how the 4.77 only help at the start but this still isnt true though. Any gear has its powerband so you can be side by side and obviously have a 4.44 pull on the 4.77 if the 4.77 is right about at its shift point BUT the 4.77 should still pull on any gear, esp if the driver is just that, a driver that can handle his shifts well and very quick. Ofcourse the 4.77 will help in the 1/4 mile, but you have to be able to hit that last shift quick enough, if you granny shift, they will hurt you, if you can hit it on key, your in for about .5 second faster.

I think weve had 10 pages of this exact conversation
