Oh and any reason why you went with a 18x11 vs a 17x11 given than 285/295/315 are all sizes available on 17s for Hoosiers?

Our car actually has 17x10 and the only reason was cost and time. It was the only way within our budget and time crunch to get the car ready. The 18 are easier to fit since the 285/295 are shorter. We are using 275/40. BFg and currently BFg doesn't have a shorter 17. We are looking into 18x10.5/11 next

You don't have to run with the hardtop because its removable. My understanding up until now from the rules was that you would have to have the tonneau. However I prefer it the other way without due to the cost factor. The other thing that we discussed us we want to right letters to get the fuel cell rule changed. Currently to install a fuel cell you need a cage because they are using club racing rules. It would benefit us in the weight dept to allow fuel cells without cage cause them we could run almost no fuel. The BMW and 350z that we ran against had the low fuel light on. We were running full tank to avoid fuel starve. Allowing a fuel cell would allow us to run 2-3 gallons which would be 50-60 lbs less weight

Why should an allowance be made to allow the second lightest car in the class to get....lighter? Yes, I can run with no gas in the tank, but it still weighs over 2900lbs.
It has more to do with preventing fuel starve than anything. I could care less about the weight. Many S2000s have seen fuel starve a 3/4 tank. Tanks slapping is another concern unless you are 100% full. The design of the gas tank is the issue. I will be happy to support a rule mod to allow a proper fix.

I walk talking to some of the Goodyear guys while I was there since they're trailer was right by our paddock area, they said they're gonna do more with contingency next year and also add more tire sizes to their lineup. Anyone consider running Goodyears over Hoosiers?

I've never heard of an S2k starving at a full tank, though. Just don't run less than that, and you'll never have an issue. 370z's have too.

Haven't read SP rules in years, but why not add a surge tank.... And if it's against the rules write in stating you don't want to run the motor lean from fuel starving and would like to request that a surge tank be allowed. And if they come back with the usual "it's against class philosophy" crap just add one really well hidden.
