Prepping for BSP
CR aero stuff is legal in BSP to answer your other question, for sure, even if they do end up taking spoilers out of SP, because of update/backdate.
A couple things...
WRT removing the soft top. In SP, update/backdate allows you to remove it. This isn't a model conversion like stock, it's component part. The CR has no soft top, so you can remove the soft top. Same with all the Miatas in CSP running no soft top because the Clubsport didn't have one, even in NA's when the CS was an NB (they're on the same line). You don't have to convert to a CR to remove the top, so no tonneau or bracing needed.
Doesn't the CR tonneau just snap in? I've actually never really looked that closely at a production CR, but the early pre-production CR I looked at it was just snaps. If it just snaps, I'd think it would be considered "removeable" and you could remove it in any of the classes. At least based on previous interpretations of the rule.
AP1 transmission and AP2 carrier. I'm still running my stock AP2 trans but have considered switching to an AP1 trans. Keep in mind tho that the AP1 used 8mm bolts on the trans, driveshaft and carrier flanges and the AP2 uses 10mm. Those flanges are not legally changeable and stepped bolts/spacers are not legal either IMO. So if you want the gearing of the AP1 trans and the strength (I question how much stronger it really is...) of the AP2 carrier, you're gonna have to run 8mm bolts in 10mm holes somewhere along the line. Will that be an issue, maybe, maybe not...
Mugen spoiler. It's under 10" but it'll still need to be within the perimeter of the car, "The spoiler may be no wider than the original bodywork, and it shall
not protrude beyond the overall perimeter of the bodywork as viewed from above."
Surge Tanks. Not legal

I don't think it just snaps. I see at least a few bolts holding the cover down in this diagram

Anyone know what the tonneau and all the crap needed to mount it weighs? Would look a lot better then the tray and stuff I'm running now w/o the top. Although it's a good place to put water bottles and helmets when driving to grid.
I've got the OEM top cover, but it's heavy and fugly.
Fuel Cells... I'd be curious for everyone to read through the GCR, TTR and Solo Rules and get their opinions. All are required to determine our legality since the GCR and TTR are mentioned in the SP fuel cell rules. Reading them again, I think we can probably run a fuel cell but there's some other weirdness, required long sleeve cotton shirts, ew. And restraint differences, etc... Letters for clarification probably won't hurt.
WRT to weights, Sacha, I was wrong. My car was 2590 on our local scales, not SCCA's. On my scales its more like 2530, which is where it should be. It was 2595 at Nats in 2007 and that was with the "heavy" 12lb battery and soft top. I still have some weight to pull and can get to the mid-high 24's. With a fuel cell 2399 might be possible

Ok no biggie on the weights. I wanted to have a comparison on the same scales. Mine was 2680 on the scales before we ran on Thursday morning. Tank was full minus 3 runs by our other driver in ssm. I know I have about 100 or so lbs to lose with the obvious stuff and think probably get closer to 150 lbs out of it with some more small items once I go through the whole car
