I have recaro spg for drivers and the smallest kirkey (no lb limit in SP) in the passenger side. I do really, really like the SPG.

If you really want the lightest weight I guess Kirkeys on both sides would be the way to go.

I don't see any problems with an F22 --> AP1 transplant. Everything is bolt and go. It's the AP1 trans into an AP2 car that has the driveshaft bolt differences, yes? Couldn't you just run AP1 trans, diff, and driveshaft in that case?

Yeah, the problem is that I remember that I swapped in an AP2 diff housing last year. The AP2 tranny is supposed to be a bit better anyway with the carbon synchros so it's probably not a bad idea if I'm forced to go that route. I'm ok with getting fender work done so I'm guessing that means I'm shooting for 315s all around if I want a square setup? 315s are 25.6" in diameter over the 295s which is 25.3" and 27lbs vs 24lbs. I almost feel like going that wide up front could affect turn in response. 255/40/17 star specs are 25.0" and it seems like tuned AP2s with say a 8500 rev limiter get around 60mph in 2nd so would the extra 0.3" of a 295 add another 1mph? and 315s add another 1mph on top of that?

Is there such a thing as too much tire?

I get about 67mph out of a 25.3in tire (295/35/17), ap1 trans, stock final drive, and 8600rpm limiter.

Interesting, maybe I'll just move my diff over to an AP1 housing and then mate everything up with a 22. 67mph could come in pretty useful. I absolutely suck at the 2-3, 3-2 upshift downshift when I'm autoxing.

What are the dimensions of the wheel you're using for that 295/35/17? Is that 295 all around or are you running staggered 275/295?

Looking more closely at 295s both the 295/35/17 and the 295/30/18 are 24lbs so weight isn't a big differentiator but I assume a 17" wheel weighs less than an 18" wheel. On TireRack, they have the 295 listed as fitting wheels 9.5-11" and looks like designed it that way so the Z06 guys can run the 295s up front on their stock 9.5" wheel. Would there be a significant disadvantage to running a 17x9.5 vs a 17x10?

There are more options for us in the 17x9.5 wheel size including the SSR Type-C, Type-F which are available in a 17x9.5 +65 for a little under $2k for the set. SSR also makes the SSR MS1-R in a 17x10 +62 but at that price you're basically in CCW territory. Too bad 17x10 6ULRs are hard to come by, they'd be a perfect low cost alternative.

FYI ... I was informed that the 285/30/18 is a better choice than the 295/30/18. It supposedly has less sidewall flex and is a touch wider. I inquired about the Enkei NT03+M in the 18x10.5+64mm yesterday. Found out they only come in a larger bolt pattern. Maybe enough interest could get Enkei to make a set?

Especially on the front. I don't know why you would want a 295 vs 285.
