Damn you guys. I guess you're making this decision easy. I might as well give in to Evans request to put some kind of very fast spooling turbo in my car to put down 450hp/350tq. Problem with our car is 2nd gear though...cryo allowed in SSM right

I haven't even really looked at the SM ruleset (350z is not a good choice for SSM IMO), but are final drives open? The Z it wouldn't matter, I can just swap down to the AT 3.3FD. That plus built top-end....75-78mph in 2nd .

You ruined BSP for me Mike. Stop trying to sell your car.

No one seems to want it, even at a bargain price....so I will probably be around for a bit.

There isn't much competition in BSP locally anyway especially with Mike trying to sell his car and I'm not too happy about this silly S2 paxed Prosolo class.
I already have a motor being built. After the whole ordeal with the rule changes, I decided to pursue the S2000 I always wanted. Hopefully it will be competitive in SSM, of not, it will still be a great car to own!

Oh nice...is it a top secret build or can you share some of the details? Any ideas on how you plan on addressing the ultra weak second gear?

Steve - Can put up your letters so everyone can see what you sked for specifically?

I deleted the emails already since they were rejected but the gist of it was:

1) We were requesting to be able to run an aftermarket hardtop of any material. I totally understand if they reject my Mugen or a Spoon top but to even deny provisions for an aftermarket OEM replica doesn't make sense given that no one in their right mind would run with a hardtop and take that weight penalty unless it was raining so they're forcing us to find used OEM hardtops at ridiculous prices (about $3500 nowadays) instead of letting us run more affordable replicas for about $1200. Remember, this is just so we can have a top on if it rains (and we delete our soft tops, which I suspect is the reason why they don't want to allow this so we don't get tempted to remove our soft tops).

2) I requested that we be allowed to drill a holes in our bumper at no larger than 2" to terminate a brake duct (which we are legally allowed to install) on our front fascia to serve no other purpose but to provide air to a brake duct. The S2000 has locations specifically for brake ducts or fog lights but unlike other cars, it's not just a removable cover. You have to actually cut the bumper cover install something like this (design intention, not a factor documented thing since Honda doesn't sell foglights or brake ducts for the S2000). Seriously, we're talking about a 2" hole that goes to a brake duct only. I get it, there's no need for this or any brake duct for that matter. This is my selfish desire to have brake ducts since my car is dual duty track car as well but like I mentioned, it adds no performance advantage for autox so why not allow it? Instead I'm going to just terminate it in my bumper opening so this rule is stupid because it doesn't prevent me from doing what I want (run brake ducts) but instead just make my car look stupid for no reason.

Anyway, it's a moot point. These requests have been turned down and its unlikely to change because they aren't necessary or apparently within the spirit of the rules (because it makes total sense to allow brake ducts to be fitted but not allow you to terminate them in a clean way). I'm just gonna suck it up and accept the rules because at the end of the day these aren't show stoppers. It's just silly that we can't come up agree on simple rule changes that don't take anything away from the class or make things more expensive but we're totally fine pissing off a huge portion of the autox community by completely overhauling stock class.

By the way, I'm almost 100% sure that if I did have brake duct holes and taped over them at a big event, no one would protest me but I want to be legal to the letter of the rules not because (thankfully) my competitors are reasonable people.

Don't forget the diff strengthening allowance for reliability. This is the main reason I'm moving to SSM. A few diffs will pay for most the SSM motor.
