[QUOTE=PilotSH,Feb 6 2010, 12:57 AM]So are you saying that with 600 lb springs, that at full droop, your springs still stay in contact with the upper perch/mount?

How much of an advantage is an 9" wheel over a 8.5"? I have a couple sets of forged TR F3s wheels left over from my AS days and was thinking of enlarging the center bore of the rears to get a non staggered 17x8.5 setup with 255/40s. A 255 looks to work decently well on a 8.5" wheel.

I would think the width advantage is minimal. It may depend on the tire though. One reason I am going for the 949 wheels is weight. It's a 4+ pound savings per wheel.

For the Star Specs I don't think there will be any real advantage. They fit nicely on the 8.5" wheel and the side walls appear to hold up well. I ran 26 lbs for all four corners and barely rolled to the tip of the little triangles. These are shaved to 4/32. Pavement was decent grip asphalt.

Front/Rear
That is sort of what I am thinking. The TR F3s are 16.5lb forged wheels. A cheap and available option is the OZ in a 17x8.5 et59. The 949 wheels look nice but I am not sure they will be available in time (and demand very well might outstrip supply). The TR C3s appear to be fairly heavy (but cheap). What is the old saying: light, strong, cheap, pick any two?

Anybody out there running 18" wheels? They are allowed, right? There is only a tire width restriction (255), I believe.

18s are legal but you are most likely going to end up weighing more with an 18" set up vs a 17" and are not going to have any better selection of tires.

doesn't the CR have some sort of additional brace welded in the area where the softtop is removed? is that an available part?

It bolts in, but you have to remove the top. The CR also has a steering stiffener that bolts on. Both are available at Hardtopguy.

There is a black 06 w/22k miles on it for sale locally.

$14.5k

Damn thats a ridiculous price...anyone want an 04 Silverstone? 23k miles. Honda certified used.

Ha

just kidding I'd only sell mine to pick up an 08 I think.
Thats a deal. I'm on the hunt for a ap1 or 2, in that ballpark hopefully if I go with an ap2. I think you guys are right in that using the extra money to prep a ap1 would go farther then dumping it into a more expensive car and not being able to do anything with it mod wise
