anyone wanting a good laugh at me running in the wet with one re01 on the rear driver side, heres a video to waste 2 mins out your life

Kind of a disappointing course. Sorry Josh ... I will be designing the next one You did better than we did in Blytheville, at least your car still drives. I prefer running the RS3s over A6s on this particular lot because it eats up the Hoosiers really fast. Its very similar to the surface a Hartland Park Topeka (for those that remember).

What happened? Did your diff decide it had had enough?

I guess I really earned my cone head of the year trophy last year. The issue I'm having (other then being wet and one odd tire) is the fact that my timing is off on transitions. I'm used to it transitioning faster and with the softer bar setting it's "different" Alinment this week (I might have to come to louisville to get it done because I dont want any joe doing it), take out the rear camber back to 2.5 and such. the car should be alot better next race. I'm looking forward to the blythville race in 2 months, hopfully the car is "sorted" by then.

ps- sorry guys for turning this thread into my facebook page haha. happy motoring! Anyone wanna give tips on settling down the rear without creating push? I think once I make my alinment changes it will be "all good" but I like hearing people input also.
Rear toe in did that for me, at least on my AP2. Although I can't be sure because I need to dial down my front bar now - it's at setting 5/6 and I'll probably go to 4 or maybe even 3. it felt a little understeer-y but far better than the oversteer land it was in before even with the front bar on 5. And holy crap I could blast through slaloms like they weren't even there.

We'll see how it goes after dialing down front bar.

This is the early diagnosis. Something went kaboom on the first of my 2nd session runs. It's currently up on jackstands in the garage. I plan to tear it apart tomorrow after work. If all goes well, it will be at the Atlanta Tour this weekend! We bought an extra diff 2 years back, knowing this may be an issue. 4 full seasons of auto-x with a co-driver. Most the regulars at the NTs seem to go through more diffs than I have ... this being my first. There is a small chance the problem is an axel, but the vibration from the clunking is coming from the pumpkin based on butting my hand on it and having someone else turn the wheel.

To make this relevant to the thread, Its a good idea to get a spare diff and axels. I have been very fortunate so far, but the time finally came for me. I have seen many S2000s break axels and diffs at National events. They are not very difficult to replace. I keep a DIY printout with my spare parts just in case. This time I happened to leave the parts at home.

I remember reading a story about an S that was shared by a team of people and they got to know that after 1,000 or so pro-solo launches the axles had to be replaced because if they did x number more launches they would actually break. How do you spell fatigue!

Here some more weekend STR entertainment... I forgot to zoom in my regular camera behind the seat, so view the second video taken by iPhone for a more dynamic view. This was a fun and fast 0.8 mile course. After some compression tweaks in the rear I was able to take the bend at full throttle on the way out and just barely lift on the way back. Again I will claim that the lowness (12.5" hub center to metal fender edge) of the rear has helped tame it for an AP1 as the car now toe's in on turn in as opposed to out.

Just for grins... Here are my 2 fastest runs at last weekend's Blytheville ProSolo.

Right side:

Left side:

BTW, I uploaded the videos in HD but I am betting that you will need to go to the sites and manually choose them. Note... for those that have not been to one, it is a lot of fun... right side video has more of what it is like to be on deck and then stage the car. Feel free to critique the runs... I'm always open to improvements.

Axels was something I had never actually thought about until this weekend when we had an AP1 break his left side axle on his last run. It broke on a 1-2 upshift, making all sorts of awesome noises.

I'm just going to Puddymod when my diff fails. He lives probably an hour away from me so I'm lucky.

Pretty sure the diff mod isn't STR legal. Just so you know!
