Actually, I was third, 0.06 behind Motonishi and 0.1X behind Cawthorne. It's a fun class and the car seems to be coming together. Finally fixing my lack up bump travel in the rear was a huge help.

Thanks for the correction. My info posted was word of mouth. I was not there for the impound and look at the finish sheet. So, MX-5s from CA and AZ will be a challenge headed toward nationals.

I got 9/18 which is typical for me, good considering how loose the car was in the back even with rear bar off. More toe in the rear may help tame that.
I was told by people who have run there often that San Diego's surface is slippery, which makes cars loose, and consequently that you shouldn't draw setup conclusions based on Qualcomm for anywhere but Qualcomm. Our findings definitely reflected that -- our car was looser than it has ever been on Saturday before we made setup adjustments.

Congratulations guys. This is becoming a very well balanced class, and thank goodness. Jon and I were also running STR locally this weekend, but the course was so tight, and the lot left a lot to be desired, but it was clear to us that driven by the same driver on the same tires, the Flashpro black CR, running on the stock shocks and springs with only the Saner bar on full stiff was consistently .6 to .7 quicker than the 05 AP2 that we currently have setup with DA TC kline konis.

We're reserving final judgement of course on a higher speed course. We ordered a set of Motons motorsports that should be here within the next three weeks, and we've decided to fully commit on getting the Black CR prepped for STR. First time driven with the flashpro, and I was really impress with the power bump, and the higher redline.

Very nice!! It would be awesome to have one car for BS and another for STR. Great stuff. If I were in your situation, this makes perfect sense.

BTW, it makes me sad hearing about how great the flashpro is. Hmm... time to right that letter for the piggy back.

Went to Lincoln yesterday and got to run against Robinson for 4 runs. Didn't go as well as I hoped - the car is ridiculously power on loose - especially in left handers - so we perused the alignment sheet from when the last time we had the car on the rack. Looks like its even more screwed up than we originally thought. The tech measured in minutes instead of degrees...

We have close to 2.9deg of front camber, 3deg in the right rear, 2.2deg in the left rear and 0 Toe. I never felt like I could get the Dunlops to bite into the surface. Hard to tell with such a screwed up alignment though. Transitionally, corner entry, and midcorner the car is great - every time you want to be able to roll into it the rear end breaks loose. Braking isn't all that hot either with so much front camber. But the pics from the event show that it might not be a bad thing - the outside tire is pretty upright when loaded up.

I also apparently have overfilled the motor with oil because I was blowing large puffs of blue smoke 3-4seconds after coming through a right hand turn.

Still fighting the FlashPro too - car is running way too rich above 6kRPM and we're loosing power up there - throttle tip in is quite good though and its taking my co-driver a little bit to get used to it.

I have video's but the wind noise is insane - not sure if I'll post them.

I hate this. I just want a car that works...

edit: oh and the biggest headache is the damn starter/battery. When the motor gets hot the car will not start at all on the small battery. We had to push/jump the car every time or just leave it running between runs. Something is up with the starter...

MY dunlops are biting great even with -3deg (rear) camber (even side to side thank god). I can put down power very well even in first coming out of really tight corners. My money is on alignment. I have 1/8th of toe in in the rear so that helps too.

I find with a lot of rear camber the car likes low pressures (I've found 30psi rear to work best) Now, I have an AP1 with less torque and I have not tried the Toyo's but I definitely think the alignment was the biggest culprit here.

Nick,

Sorry that you had so much trouble. Did you get any clean runs in?

My car, on the other hand, was great!

I'll post up some of the data from me and my co-driver tonight.

Check out these two pics

Yeah I think my last run was clean. 80.6 or something like that.

Nick,

Sorry you're working so hard for so much frustration. Rusty bolts, loose this, tight that, cones, flashpro, tireshit OH MY!

Atleast you're having fun, I'll get to turn a wheel this weekend, looking forward to it. Are you going to go to Blytheville?
