S2000 STR prep resource
Because I didn't think of it until after I finished the welding
I think you would still have some post processing to do to allow for adequate articulation of the bearing. Definitely not as much - but still some. It could possibly prevent you from using a safety washer on the bottom side as well.

My fastest run on the second day from the SD tour (good for third out of eighteen): http://vimeo.com/10869453
The audio is goofed up because we thought it would be clever to put a mic in the airbox... turns out it just makes it clip the input levels.

Nice runs. I'm going to have to take a look at the STR S2000's at the El Toro ProSolo this weekend. I'm thinking of maybe switching over to STR pretty soon because I don't want to throw money into the Hoosier money pit.

Seriously, SoCal is shaping to be the hotbed of STR. You have multiple ppl with jackets in the class. I can't WAIT to get back and run in STR!!!!!!!!!! (2 more months...) And with your AP2.5, IMO you have a better car for STR than for BS. 2006-7 cars have the worst OEM springs, and as faster drivers start buying more CRs, the number of non-CRs in BS will continue to dwindle. Of course, moving back to concrete has made the vettes the car to beat, so it may not even be CRs that you have to worry about. All the better to move to STR

I don't know what setup you have, but if you already have shocks, then all you need are springs and maybe adjustable perches, and some 9 inch wheels to be competitive.

Join us in STR Greg. I really wanted to build that car for STR, was very tempted, it will be very fast.
STR at the Pro is going to be another epic battle, Kenny, Jim, Bob, Mike and Jay smell blood in the water, and there is a huge target on my back, can't wait!!

Great job to Reyenga too. Good to know that the AP1 has some legs, at least in SD
The Pro will be very interesting. The S2k should have a small advantage at the line, but I don't know how much of an advantage that is. Does anyone have links to 60 ft times from a Pro with MX-5s in CS and S2ks in AS?

The revalved Koni Yellows I have are supposed to be good for up to 700-800 lb/in springs in front and 500-600 lb/in in rear. Koni coilover sleeves and spring perches can be sourced, but I'm not sure what top mounts I should use. A flat pillowball mount like the Teins will reduce bump travel, which may be an issue if I'm lowering the car (need to take some measurements with the Koni Yellows). Another option I've seen is to use/modify the stock top mount.
For power, I currently have a Mugen catback and a higher flowing intake filter. I was thinking of maybe getting a Berk 63.5mm high flow cat pipe and a Flashpro to start, if there's already an existing Flashpro calibration for just these mods. Then I might get the K&N FIPK intake and a tune later. Do aftermarket headers offer any significant gains on the S2000?
The switch to STR with the above parts won't be too costly, given the price of Hoosiers that I'd be avoiding and money I could recover from selling my BS wheels, Chase Race hitch, and TireTail.

I'm basically at full BS prep. I have a lot of reading to do in this thread.

I have Konis as well (TC Kline DAs) and have done a lot of research into it. Lower perches and sleeves are 140 for all 4. As for upper mounts, the stock OEM mount will work. On Konis, bump travel prolly won't be a problem for the front, but might be for the rears. There are remedies for this (like modifying the stock mounts like Reyenga/Nick). I'd say try out the OEM first. Reyenga/Nick use Penskes, and the shaft adapter eats up a lot of bump travel, something the Konis don't have a problem with.
As for the header, it's pretty maxed out from Honda, and any gains will be very small. When I do the header, it will be more for weight savings.
It sounds like after you sell all your R-comp stuff (Tire Tail, YUCK!), your costs to get into STR are minimal, if any, so just take the plunge!
Another AP2.5 in the mix... I'm starting to get FlashPro envy...

Also feels significantly lighter
