Headers are allowed. But you need to be able to pass an emissions test.

I'd start with the best 1.5 way LSD available some 17"X9" wheels with RE11s and upper and lower strut braces front and rear. Start there as baseline to begin your suspension tuning, before even thinking about intake or exhaust parts.

Thats gonna be hard...

I didn't know the S2000 had struts?

And Josh - running a test pipe is retarded - thanks for trying to kill me. I'll stick with my cat that makes just as much power but is healthier for everyone around me.

What makes sense is cars that are STREET legal in ST - hence the requirement for a catalytic converter. Just because every fanboi on this site has a test pipe does not mean its cool.

Suspension braces, I stand corrected. You are also allowed to change either upper or lower A-arms on front and rear, but not both. Which will make for big time alignment adjustability.

Right because the S2000 doesn't have plenty of that stock...

Not picking on you - but build the car first, then come play in the sandbox

no, most CAIs trim the bottom splash guard and fender liner to route the tubing into the front fender area, which I don't believe is legal for ST* either. The top plastic area is only really removed if you are installing a pimp looking radiator plate, or routing an intake snorkel like the spoon one, IIRC.
14.10.

C. The air intake system up to, but not including, the engine inlet may be modified or replaced. The engine inlet is the throttle body, carburetor, compressor inlet, or intake manifold, whichever comes first. The existing structure of the car may not be modified for the passage of ducting from the air cleaner to the engine inlet. Holes may be drilled for mounting.
I assume the splash shield and fender liner are considered part of the "existing structure" thus making most "filter on a stick cold air intakes" illegal?

As you just pointed above being an air guide plate, it does contribute to the air intake system. I'll agree that it isn't worth a protest... for now.
The "air guide plate" is guiding air for the radiator, not for the intake. This issue was hashed out over on the Miata forum about using the AEM intake for CSP.

I didn't claim that it made more power. I just said the crossover had a significant change in dynamic balance of the car when the intake was installed.

I'm not claiming to be making more power with the lower VTEC point either - just thats its a hell of a lot easier to drive this way.
I guess I made an incorrect interpretation of what you were implying. It sounded like you were saying that the intake was enough to cause a more polarizing cross-over, ultimately meaning it added significant power. ...My mistake. I'm still standing by my opinion that an intake isn't a bang-for-buck mod for a STR builder on a budget though.

I didn't think you were claiming that there was more power with a lower VTEC point, but I would agree that lower is better. I'm not sure why it's so high to begin with; maybe some customer objective thing but that's another discussion.

On a different STR topic, from people that have had experience with this: has anyone felt a difference between running a 255 on an 8.5" wheel (IE an AP2 Rear) vs. a 255 on a 9" or wider wheel? I've got 225f/255r's on my AP2 front/rear's right now and they all look a little pinched. The car doesn't feel sloppy or anything, but I'm wondering if a crisper feel and more grip can be had from running a wider wheel. If the difference is negligible, 4 AP2 rears might be a good wheel choice for a budget setup.

Also, there was some talk on this at the beginning of the thread but I don't know if anyone said anything - is anyone on RPF-1's or wheels with a similar offset (+45)? If so, are there rubbing issues?

I am on rpf-1's and I just dropped a bit with kwv3's. I did have my fenders rolled and and dropped about 1.25 inches. So far no problems with one autocross event under my belt. I would not try it without rolling the fenders, but I didn't pull mine at all so it wasn't too extreme.

On another note, what do you guys think of the legality of a mugen intake. Technically I did not modify the path between the filter and where it goes into the engine, I just added a snorkle and put the cooling plate on.
