I'm sure there will be plenty of people with the RE-11's...especially if there is a good contingency program.

I, however, am going with the Kumho XS. As far as I can tell it's the lightest and cheapest of the competitive tires. It's also non-directional so I'll be able to rotate. RE-11's are non-directional as well. Direzza's, RS3's, and AD08's are directional.

They are all pretty much the exact same weight.

Be careful what you use as a reference for weight - the MFG websites list weights and molded tread depth - some are molded with 10/32nds and some are 8/32nds.

Also - directional tires only come into play when its wet and you start siphoning water away from the middle of the tire. You can pretty much run any tire in any direction in the dry.

Toyo and Bridgestone are the only companies with Contingency for street tires right now. The Toyo's will burn to a crisp under our cars and winning a Tour in Bridgestones will only get you 1.2 tires...

So I expect to see a lot of people on a lot of different tires

Oh and ya'll can thank me for our PAX number next year...

Its gone up 6pts since we started the build. And no I'm not going to tell you what it is, all I can say is that its slower than STU and faster than STX. Don't expect any quick and easy PAX wins the first two years of the class like in seasons past with the ST* classes

The weight range of the tires is 25 lbs to 28lbs based on tire rack (fwiw). 3 lbs seems like it should be taken into consideration given how much people spend on lightweight rims. (rotational mass blah blah blah).

My comment about directionality was more about being cheap and getting the most life out of the tire through tire rotation.

I think you'd be wasting your money if you run the Dunlops or R1R's at this point...
At the Vail Nat'l tour, some of the STU guys commented that they were going to switch back to Dunlops after they're AD08s were used up. Seems like the ST_ tire choice is highly driver and setup dependent. I wouldn't count out the Dunlop, but it wouldn't be my first pick for a competitive setup.
