What would be the regulation on jet coating some items? such as a header and a intake manifold?
I would think a header would be ok because a aftermarket header is legal and who says headers don't get coated. Although I'm iffy on the legal"ness" of a manifold.

The rules are pretty clear in stating that you're only allowed to modify the intake up to(and not including) the throttle body.
Dave, see you bright and early! It’s a fun event so points don’t matter and you’ve been whooping up on me all season. So the toyo advantage in the cold over the kooks wouldn’t matter anyways because you’re still going to “win” (quotations on win because their no points or trophies to win) I so need a co-driver next year. I might have one every once in a while when hes avalible and not whooping B Stock butt

Correct but depending on your interoperation of “modify” it would be questionable. I understand we can’t bore them out or port them in any way but modifying the color of the outside isn’t exactly a modification.
Well i think that's the question he's asking...
If you're not changing any physical specifications, or parts and simply reducing temperatures, is that considered modified? I stand out obvious answer is yes, but I'd be interested to know what the official ruling on the matter is. As we all know temperature management can help out a lot.
To Josh7Owens, you're really only going to feel the effect of heatsoak after you've come to a stop. In which case in AutoX you generally have enough time to pop the hood and let things cool down. Of course another option would be to create a little... umm... pocket on the intake tube, and put a nice chunk of dry ice. Would definitely cool intake temps and probably last a run, and is well before the throttle body

I can't see why you're apologizing. Like I said dry ice is always an option, or you could wrap the K&N tube / box in whatever that reflective surface is called (Total brain fart, working a graveyard), Hazmat / Dynamat or whatever.... blah I feel dumb ROFL.
I don't think this is ambiguous at all. The rules say no modification is allowed downstream of the intake. You yourself wrote that not only do you want to modify the intake manifold, but that your motivation for doing so is to achieve a performance benefit. Paraphrasing what you're saying, "The rules say I can't, but I want to because I think it will make me faster." I don't think a protest committee would view that reasoning particularly favorably.
here's a video of my fastest run today for anyone bored and wanting to watch a autocross run.
The weather was 56 degrees out side with it sprinkling on and off. I dropped the pressures on the rs-3 down past my comfort zone to 32f/31r on the slick sealed pavement looking for added grip. It was 1.2 seconds faster then my run with 36f/36r. After this run it started raining pretty good and that was it for the "fast runs."

When will they post the official ruling for 2011 season? I'm curious what the official ruling is going to be on tuning ap1s and the rear wing. Some say they are going to allow tuning as long as it's not protested and the wing has to be the same size or smaller then the cr wing but nothings official yet.
