Here's a n00bish question that I think I have the answer to already (via searching) but just need to confirm, and maybe it'll be a good tidbit for this thread:

When people say "revalved Koni's," they are referring to a valving that is set up already, right? As in, an "auto-x spec," and most people aren't choosing custom damping rates whenever they have this done. Is this right? Also, is the main difference a higher compression rate?

That's a steak house right? Mmmm.....steak.....
Correct. And no its craptasticly more amount of rebound. There is a slight change in compression.

Good info to know about the XS' not being the tire for the S2000. That's too bad as they are pretty darn cheap. If I decide to give up on my CRX Si in STS, I just might start dabbling in STR and work my way up to being fully prepp'ed.

I do have 10 RE01R's (with 6 being new in bags waiting to be thrashed that I got in the Tirerack close out). Too bad the new tires are 4x245's and 2x225's. What the hell... RE01R's are now uncompetitive, but would be perfectly fine learning and adapting from AS to STR.

Hmmm... I do have a good set of DA's (TC Kline's) that I used for AS.

Would these be worth trying to work with in STR?

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

I can help you with that HAHA

I think they may have built this class just for me?

Holy crap you have 10 RE01R's? They'll be dried out by the time you get around to using them Sell em and get some RE-11's or AD08's or for 255's all around Nittos prolly wouldn't be a bad choice either.

This seems pretty bogus to me.

If you are lucky and your car can be reflashed/reprogramed you are ok but if your only option is a piggy back with the same sort of control you are screwed.
Goes to show they don't know wtf they're talking about. Hondata reflash changes timing so wtf is the problem with allowing timing with a piggy back. My car wouldnt even take any timing.

You mean scraping my oil pan isn't good? ...Really though, I've got an AP2, and from what I understand, the bump steer problem was fixed with AP2's.

@TheNick:

You mentioned running 850f/600r spring rates. Is this on a car you drive frequently? How's the ride? The S2K is my only car, so I can't get too crazy with spring rates.
I run 12kg (671.96lb) springs daily and comfortably, I am actually going to 14kg (783.96) springs. Just food for thought. T1R's newest coilovers btw, which were specifically valved for the spring rate, 14kg is acceptable as well without revalving. 245/255 tires as well and I have no problems with understeer. Only reason I went with 245's up front is to avoid further fender rolling.

I think a lot of you guys are going to over sway and under spring your cars honestly. Simple CR sways are doing me just fine. Just an opinion

Sorry for so many posts btw lol, I've been street tire for life since 04' and just saw this thread!

Looks like my request was posted as they said they would

As for the OBDII stuff. The piggybacks alter some items but the main features related to emissions are left in tact. This would be no different than a reprogrammed ecu.
well said, glad you sent them a letter.

Where can I get a top mount with a 2.25" or 2.5" spring seat, that will mate with the stock sized shock shaft?

My Penskes already have lower seats for 2.5" (or it might be 2.25") standard coilover springs, so I just need an upper seat to use those springs.
John - the Penske upper hat will work in conjunction with the threaded adapter for the OE topmount. I'm assuming of course your 8100's have the same adapter on them my 8300's do.

What I did with mine is made some spring isolators out of 6061 on a lathe. Then of course Hollis showed me that the standard Penske top mount worked in conjunction with the adapter

No it doesn't. It sure as hell makes the car a lot easier to drive and puts power down pretty damn well though.
My car puts the power down really well with the rear bar connected and 900F/750R springs. When I lowered it I took out a good bit of rake and it vastly improved power application from mid-corner off. I plan on trying it with the rear bar disconnected some in the upcoming season, but I have not been noticing any problem getting the power down as is.
