Is the Berk cat even legal for STR?
It's O2 sensor bung is extended and can be viewed as a fooler IMO.

 

Berk cat has to be modified so that it doesnt have the extended o2 sensor bung.

You have to cut the bung down and reweld it so that the 02 sensor is directly in the cat.

you are not modifying the converter. you are just adding an o2 bung.

Are we talking about the entire assembly? Or just the Magnaflow spun cat?

The Magnaflow piece is what has the EPA certification - not the entire assembly.

Is the performance of the cat still the same before and after moving the 02 sensor into the flow of the exhaust? Yes. Therefore - the performance of the cat has not been modified.

 

the question is, will it throw a CEL with the bung directly in the stream?

 

Hasn't done it in 1000miles. Don't know why it would.

Make sure you replace your interior instead of just removing it. Otherwise you're in XP.
