That's what I figured. Although, they(Berk) must have thrown a CEL during testing hence its presence. I wonder what year car they were using?

Define converter. Define modifying.

Are we talking about the entire assembly? Or just the Magnaflow spun cat?

The Magnaflow piece is what has the EPA certification - not the entire assembly.
That is key. The comment I responded to said "cat has to be modified". I assumed conventional definitions of each term and didn't realize that "cat" meant "converter assembly" and that the part of the assembly being modified was not within the converter section.

I suppose if I had thought about it I would have thought it was odd that the oxygen sensor was located on the converter...

Is there a link to the official provisional rules? I rooted around on scca.com for a while, and I read the first few pages and last few pages of this thread, but I didn't see a link.

Google brought me this:

http://www.autoxforum.com/forums/lofiversi....php/t5531.html

and this:

http://www.scca.com/newsarticle.aspx?hub=3...29&archive=true

but nothing current.

Phase 1.0 of my STR build is in the works. Everything is either here, or will be here by Friday.

-Wheels: Enkei RPF-1s, 17x7.5 +48mm wheels, widened 1.5” to get 17x9 +67mm. Also have 5mm spacers to play with
-Tires: Toyo R1R 245/35/17s (I want to get some of that gearing the AP2s have)
-Shocks: Penske Triples. Valved for a stock sprung car, but should have enough range to keep me happy for now.
-Springs: 750lb/in Front. 700lb/in rear + helpers
-Sways: A.R.E. 1.5” Front bar, stock rear.

Everything else is bone stock for now though I may fill up the motor and diff mounts with window-weld soon. I plan to have the car out to a CalClub event by the end of November (shit I need new magnetics for “STR”). I’ll post of pictures once the car is ready for action.

Phase 2.0 to be spread out over the 2010 season
-Fresh head and rod bearings (current engine has 190k miles)
-exhaust
-cat
-VAFC
-light weight battery
-obnoxious wing
-suspension bushings
-shock revalve
