What was their reasoning against STR being a class?
Without reading the specifics of the rules for establishing a new class I am sure STR met the intent which is likely to establish that the class is real and will be around for a while (won't evaporate). Otherwise why make it a class. I know for sure it meets the core values involved with SEB decision making which is all about making the sport better for its participants. Delay in making STR official could actually hurt it in my mind.
Agreed. And I'll speculate that, given the performance of a variety of platforms this year, and other people leaving different ST classes, the numbers will continue to swell. It's probably not beyond the realm of possibility that you could get a 100 car class in the coming years.
I have unfortunetly damanged both my front fenders by my wheels. The first was with an excessively low ride height (around 12" front) during one of my first setups on the car, where I did not have the inner fender tabs rolled. I spun on a very dirty course, on my first run, and went over a bump at full couter lock. This resulted in a huge chuck taken out of my Dunlop, and my left front fendor being pulled out, which is now wrinkled as it's tough to roll back in cleanly. The second was 4 tires off at the track with my current setup (except with Dunlops), where I was again at full lock, going off at 80mph(!). This managed to pull out the other fender, which is now wrinkled again as it's tough rolling back.
I'm confident my current setup, and ride height (12.5" front and rear), would not have any problems rubbing the fenders with the tabs rolled (which they are), with Hankooks. The Dunlops are a little wider, and when at full lock and maximum bump is the only time I have had issues. I daily drive on the Hankooks, and have had all types of speed bumps, road bumps, weird entrances and never had a problem.

Has anyone used one of the ebay knockoff N1 type single exhausts from ebay? Curious as to its actual weight. They claim 16lbs on the one I was looking at. I think 16lbs is ambitious, but I am guessing its no more than 30.
***I don't want to hear 8 pages of why these exhaust sucks. 1000 dollar exhausts on s2000 don't do squat more.

zomg dont do it!1!!!!one!
In all seriousness if you just want to drop some weight you would probably be better off cutting the stock exhaust off and adding a turn down then swapping back and forth.
I would advise against the cheap ebay stuff just by looking at the welds myself. You may pick up hp from one but I wouldn't be surprised if you lost it too. But if you go that route post here to let us know how it turns out.

I have had this happen on both sides as well, but it was easy to carefully push the fender edge back into position. The case of full counter steer and the car loaded up on the side where the wheel is pointed outward during a spin is the only case I have encountered where you can catch the fender even after a full roll. Of course I believe it to be worse if you have a very low ride height. I am running 12.25 front hub center to metal fender edge with -2.7 deg camber and 6ULRs with 255 R-S3s.
At the time of this photo the ride height was not lowered to 12.25.
