What exactly is this referring to? Axle spacers are not allowed? I did a thorough search of the rules and found no mention of this anywhere. Could someone clarify.

Also: All components between the engine and the mounting structure are
considered to be part of the motor mount assembly and therefore
comprise the motor mount.

I am assuming this means I cant run my engine torque damper? Or is this a gray area too?

Just before Nationals when the OS Giken diffs were exploding on a couple of members sent in letters asking for the allowance of the axel spacers. I'm surprised they wont consider this allowance since I see no performance advantage. I view it as a bolt-on and more for personal preference. Colin and a few others posted up in this thread.

The rules do not mention axle spacers, therefore they are not allowed. The fastrack lists proposals and member letters, one of which was proposing adding an allowance of axle spacers, which was turned down and is therefore still not allowed.

Yeah definitely does not make sense not to allow them. Just finished dropping a set of tein flex on. Also did front upper a-arm polyurethane and new mugen compliance bushings. Powerflex screwed me up though. I called them and they told me they didnt make the compliance bushing anymore so i oddered the mugen ones. Anywayso today i havs the lcas off and i open up the package for the front lower bushing and it has that and a compliance busbing. The part number was listed for two fron lower lca bushings. Needless to say i couldnt put those in and used the mugen compliance bushings. Slightly perturbed. I guess i shoulda checked em. Still.

Also question. Just got an alignment. The car took 9 degrees caster. The adjustment wouldnt even go down to 6. That normal? Other specs. -1.9 camber front bilateral. 0 front toe. Rear -2.4 camber and .14 degrees toe in.

So I have now had a second set of SPC Ball Joints go bad on me. Had the stock ones put in and will now be buying a set of J's Racing S1s. Really furious about this, but at least TireRack warrantied the first set and hopefully will cover this now broken second set as well.

Anyone have any ideas for why my car would possibly be eating upper ball joints so fast? I keep assuming it is a part failure because I can not think of anything else.

THats odd. Ive had mine for about 20k miles of very frequent autox and DDing, and some of that on very rough roads... And mine are fine (i originally got them because my OEM ones failed) What part of the joint is failing?

I do not know exactly what the part is called (I just do not know the names of the parts of what is in the joint) but all the grease turns into a sandy like dust and then there just becomes a ton of play.

You can move the wheel up and down and left and right with the front end jacked up.

As I am driving along before each joint went, there would be a clunking noise from the front end as I turn the wheel back and forth.

Also the car would just pick up and move around based on road surfaces etc...

I do know it is the joint because every time they are replaced the car is back to normal with no issues.

*This set is not anywhere near as bad as the last set, but I just noticed the wear earlier. The symptoms were the same between both failures.

Wow! That's really odd, are they symmetrical? I can see them getting damaged if they aren't symmetrical and installed on the wrong side then it can stress the ball joint and cause it to wear prematurely like yours are. Not saying that's the problem since I'm not really familiar with those upper ball joints but it's the only thing I can think of.

I dunno, the shop that installed both sets (Pro Tuning Performance in Fort Worth, TX) has installed these joints on other S2000s and those cars have not had a problem either. When they took apart the first set they were baffled by what they found. All the grease was turned into the sandy substance, and then there was just a ton of play. I will ask them on Monday to give me a better explanation of what it was that had so much play in it.
