Has anybody experienced wheel spin with stiffer springs/lowered suspension and street tires yet?
I predict that an aftermarket LSD will be a must-have for STR by the end of the season, just as the FlashPro will be a must-have for 06+ cars.
Wish there was a legal tuning option for pre-06 cars...

Shocks have arrived:

What are you guys using for top mounts? Science of Speed and Moton both sell bearing top mounts, and I was wondering if there is a significant advantage to using these over the stock top mounts. Given the cost ($480 for 4 of the SoS ones, and $600+ for a set of the Moton ones), I was wondering if it was worth it.
Any other alternatives?
OS Giken diff should be here Friday, and then it is time to put this STR car together. We need to get it together before the first event on Jan 24th.

who sells this? and for about how much?
anyone know any ohlin dealers ? and price for the DFV version?
gotuning.com sells moton, they sell for around $3600, you don't get top hats? ouch.
I would try aj-racing.com for the top hats, he has his own coil-overs produced so I dont see why he wouldn't be able to get them, probably be much cheaper as well. $400 seems a bit much for a piece of aluminum with two high grade bolts
You could even try Megan, but the SOS' will probably be color matched

I wish these shocks were are pretty as the ones on my '89 civic:

but I guess that is what you get when you spend less money for the club sport shocks vs the race shocks.
As for the top mounts, I am probably going to go with the SoS ones. I did buy a pair of the Moton ones for my BMW, but they were $550 for the single pair. I think I recall the S2000 Moton ones being $600+ or so for a pair. The BMW ones were nice looking units with huge bearings in them:

Jeez Brian, you have the alum Motons on the civic, and the cheapo club sports on the S2000? where are you priorities?
Man, those Motons costs more than the price of your civic! What do you do for a living? Need any employees?
Here is something that might be of interest:

And they're cheaper than the other options, $119 for the pair.

Now, Ground Control says these upper mounts are designed "exclusively" for use with thier coilovers, but I think you can use these with any shocks if you use a seperate upper spring perch (which I would advise to do anyway, to keep the spring co-axial with the shock/shaft). You might have to use a couple washers to get articulation between the upper mount and the upper spring perch.
The GCs are polyurethane, and the one thing that I do wonder is if it's too stiff. I don't know how many degrees the shocks articulate at the upper mount, but if there is a lot of articulation, then mebbe pillow mounts are the best way to go. If that's the case, the cheapest I found were the Tein pillowmounts. They are 160 for the pair:
Tein S2000 pillowmounts
Now, the specs say they are designed for springs with ID=70 mm (2.75 inches for those that are metrically challenged
), but as I have never seen a set of these, I don't know if it includes a coaxial spring perch with an ID = 70 (which hopefully we can just swap out for our own) or if there is some kind of raised shoulder on the bottom of the upper mount to center a ID 70 mm spring (like the GCs).
Brian, what is the diameter of the Moton shafts? The GCs are designed for Koni sport shafts and the Teins are designed for their own line, so I don't know if they are compatible. I remember Wynveen telling me that the Motons have really fat shafts...
