So far, I have found and can support that 8500rpm in the 2.2L (<300 rpm more than we logged at the limit on the datalogger in stock trim) will not ... spin a bearing, break a rod, float the valves, cause any expansions beyond oem specs, closely matches the AP1 piston speeds. Honda and Mugen have much more faith in the 2.2L than most the aftermarket turners do based on the OEM ECU settings alone. I have me engine thoroughly looked over at the end of each season, so I will catch any issues.
Marc,

I show that 8,500rpm on the AP2 is equal to 9177.98rpm on the AP1, comparing based on the differences in the stroke.

Is there anyway to bump the AP1 rev limiter to get obtain higher speeds in 1st gear?

Sorry, that was a pm meant for someone else and was incomplete at the time I accidentally posted it. That reference was used as an general example to a general argument. I did know the technical specs. Thanks though.

Based on my limited searches on here and elsewhere, the AP1 has a problem with floating the valves and cracking the retainers when revving past 9k. Im was unsure if the motors were old or new, but the thread dates start around 2001 on HT and s2ki. I personally wouldn't raise the AP1 rev limit, but focus on dropping the vtec and increasing mid range power. I also would be hesitant of using 1st gear. The S2000 is a handful on 275 A6s in 1st gear. I can only assume it would be much worse on street tires. Hopefully we can get these cars sorted out so there will be no need for downshifting.

Have you tried trimming your bumpstops to get a little bit more travel? Judging by the picture you posted in another thread,

it looks like you're running the full bumpstop. Trimming should give you some of that travel back.
Also, adding an upper perch will also help keep the spring coaxial with the shaft.

I ended up trimming about a 1/4 inch from the top of the bump stop. That gave me 1 inch suspension travel and the car now sits at 25 inch from the ground to the fender lip all around. I run 245/40/17 tires on 8.5 inch wheels.

Any one use bumpstops with Moton shocks? I don't have bumpstops on my Moton shocks on my civic or BMW, as they are shortened causing the wheel to hit the wheelwell before the shock bottoms out.

I am not sure about about the S2000, as I haven't put them on yet.

Yup... I will be running under-prepared STR locally, but BS at NT's/Nats. I believe Marc (Sirbunz) will also be going that approach as well. Should be fun!

Out of curiosity who is going with a staggered setup of the 9's in front and 10's in rear? and what tire sizes are you looking to do?

Im thinking about running the toyo r888 with these and am not sure of the size I should go with

for the r888's it seems like I can run up to the 275 on the 9's

245/40ZR17W 168130 8.0-8.5-9.5 25 9.4 24.7 9.8 11.5 1356 51 842 $237 $247
255/40ZR17 168140 8.5-9.0-10.0 26 10.2 25.1 10.4 11.7 1477 50 827 $204 $214
275/40ZR17W 168010 9.0-9.5-11.0 29 10.9 25.7 11.0 11.9 1653 51 809 $219 $229
315/35ZR17W 168540 10.5-11.0-12.5 30 11.8 25.6 12.6 11.9 1874 51 812 $292 $307

if I was na I would probably go non staggard but since I'm turbo'd and putting down over 420hp I want something that give me good cornering balence but still can grip with the extra power

Yea, I wont go to nationals lol but I'm gonna run str at ckr with you and maybe some kyr with marc.

Starting off this season I'm gonna run

-front sway bar
- 949's with re11's If they ever come out!
- BStock alinment.
- private lable header
- a intake, prolly gonna break the rules and run a aem v2 because the restriction is retarded.

I think erik (shock) is going to run str at ckr with us also and most likely kick our ass because hes basicly got a fully prepped car + some lol
