Advice on whether to buy an S2k
I'm in Dallas and drive daily in traffic. Prob 50 miles a day. I absolutely love it. It give me an excuse to not have passengers, and makes every on ramp, off ramp, and loop fun on the way to and from work. You get used to the space unless you sleep in your car. If space is a concern just keep organized and you will be amazed at how much crap you can fit in that thing! It has been a joy driving this car and it always puts a smile on my face. Like everyone says, you only live once! DO IT!!!!!!!
My commute is about 30 miles of back roads and I just bought an s2k. Everytime I shift my beater on the way to work, I just imagine how nice it will be when I do it in the s2k. Every morning, I'll be looking forward to 30some miles of farm land, especially when it gets warmer
So I'm right there with you, I'm excited for it.

I don't DD mine but will drive the 20 minute to commute in perfect weather. Never in Snow or Rain...not a great car for those conditions unless you get a second set of tires.
You're in CA, weather won't matter...+1 Buy It !!!

I have driven mine day in and day out. Its a great daily driver...very reliable. I never did anything to mine except change the battery. I commuted from Baton Rouge to New Orleans daily after the hurricane. I bought the car with 30K and no problems at all and now I am at 150K miles. In CA it would be wonderful. Traffic isnt really a problem unless you are somewhat lazy. I wouldnt have anything else in California. I have to sell mine to get something with 4 seats which I am unhappy about. Its the best car I have ever owned. I had a Ferrari 328 and now a 355 Challenge...both fantastic cars but not great as daily drivers. The 355CH is a race car which can be titled for the street so its hard to live with daily. I am saddened by the lack of interesting 4 seat cars out there... believe me... you will not regret it.
What? You owned two Ferraris and you say the S2000 is the best car you've ever owned??? That's a true endorsement right there.
Thanks again for all the input. I'm pretty much set on this car, now I just have to find one! I did Wawanesa's online price quote for insurance and was surprised to find premiums as low as $1600/year with decent coverage and $500 deductibles. I thought it would be MUCH higher.
