I guess I'm a day late and a few thousand dollars short (literally). Looking at the numbers you guys have been getting, I think I've been taken!

I just bought my 2004 Rio with 50,226 for 17k + taxes.

I have a friend up north in norcal and he's interested in selling his 04 GPW AP2 with about 65K miles clean title. Bone stock. It's white on tan and he's asking 13 thousand.

Is it worth it? It has a large tear on the soft top but has been patched up. Very interested in purchasing and was wondering if it's a steal of a deal or just decent.

Thanks

Maybe not bad but try to negotiate a new top. $600 off and you will replace it yourself. Offer $12.4 and see if he will accept. Doesn't hurt to try.

Hello all,

Im a new member and im recently been in the prowl for a S2K.
Coming from previously owning drift cars to a bmw M3 to a porsche now to a S2K!!

Anyways any input would be much appreciated, as the only ones i found 2 decent available near my area to choose from
Im from Vancouver BC and these cars are actually pretty hard to find used. In the last month these are the only two i found that were decent and i really wanna get into one asap !! lol

Please let me know what you guys think!!!

1st is 2000 S2000 $14,500.
65,000 miles
Red interior/Silver grey ext.
Zero accident
all service is up to date
Stock except AP2 wheels and upgrade cd deck
Compression all run over 200
over all condition is 9/10
very well maintained in and out.
Cons:
Needs new Brakes
Needs new Tires

2nd 2003 S2000 $13,200. Got down to 12,500
77,000 Miles
Black interior/Silver grey ext.
Everything stock down to the CD player
Also very well maintained other then minor wear along the side on the driver side leather seat is fading
Had a minor front end damage $2000(Fender, bumper, head light replaced)
few scratches on the side of the front and rear bumper.
rear bumper is out of alignment. Owner states that it had a minor rear bump when it was parked on the road.
It drive pretty nice although i wasnt able to get the compression test done.
CONS:
Needs New Brakes
Need Clutch replacing in about 6months.(Drives fine but slips abit when i give her hard)

Thanks for looking !

Does the 2000 still have the original top with plastic rear window? That is the biggest drawback with the 2000 and 2001 models v. the new cars.

If the 2003 has been hit in the front and rear I would expect that it also has or had a lot of door dings as well since it was clearly street parked and also probably has paint, trim, top UV damage from being parked outside so much.

Tires: you can get decent tires for around $120 - $160 each.

Brakes: If you do them yourself it can be as cheap as $70 for a set of OEM front pads and $30 to resurface both front rotors, most likely the rear brakes are OK at <80K miles if they cars were driven like a normal car.

Clutch: A clutch job can mean BIG money if you can't do it yourself, $800+ for a shop to do it is about the going rate these days, possibly as high as $1100 and that's USD figures.

I'd go with the '03. Cheaper, better interior (subjective, I don't like red interior). I'd have the frame checked out though...and offer $11k.
