Specifics:

2005, Silver/Black
1 owner and 100% stock
47,000 miles
In Excellent condition
CarFax shows all maintenance done at same Honda dealer meticulously on schedule
Seems to be a persons "Lake House" car so probably babied.

Best price is $17,500 at the same Honda dealer where originally purchased.

Seems high but for what appears to be a babied 2005.
I think it may be worth the non-Private sale as I am seeing a lot of pretty beat up one's here for sale locally.

Thoughts anyone?
Accidents? I sold my 2005 for just under $20k a few months ago. I bought it new, perfect condition, ~55k miles and Honda Care warranty still valid. Getting a quality S2k was important to my buyer and he got one that's close to new.
No accidents, CarFax is totally clear/clean.

FYI the starting price was $20,000 so at $17,500 I don't think they will go any lower. I guess I'm wondering if I will enjoy the car enough to justify having it as a second car.

@SpinDash: here si the email i received from them

"Thanks for the email. Where did you find my listing? For the age the S2000 is in better than average condition. The top, seats, and carpet show normal wear. The S2000 emblem on the drivers floor mat is worn. On the drivers side by the S2000 emblem there is a small spot that was a much larger door ding ( did paintless dent repair, just not perfect) . The rest of the car seems ok. You can probably make it through the summer on the tires. I can sell the car to you for $17000.00 , the drive out price would be around $18500.00. Please call or email if you have any further questions."

Might go this route, not as nice of a car but it is half the price which of course I like.

Hello everyone. I'm currently searching for an S2000 around 10 to 12k with 100k miles.

I just found this one and was wondering if this was a good deal. http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/cto/3016333728.html

Seems OK to me from all the searching I've been doing.

My only worry is that if the car is in bad condition I won't really know until I get there, which is 6 hours away. any ideas on how to determine if the car is in good condition before I drive 6 hours to pick it up?

The guy is being deployed and wants what he owes to the bank, that is why the price is low.

It looks pretty stock. Ask a lot of questions and get more pictures, I wish this was near me I would have gotten it already lol

I just test drove a Sebring Silver 2002 with 55,000 miles on it. The car has been well maintained and has lived in a garage since he bought it in 2004. The car is in very good condition but, it has two small issues. It was involved in a wreck about 5 years ago. It still has a clean title. He was T-boned on the passenger side, the fender, door, and quarter panel were replaced. The car is perfectly straight and on the DOT R stickers give away the repair. Also 3rd and 4th gears are notchy compared to my TSX and Integra. Could this be the synchros going? He is asking $13,000 for it. Is this a good deal or should I keep looking?

Have you driven other S2000s to compare the shifting feel? It could just be normal. AP1s don't have the carbon coated syncros that AP2s got. It could also just be in need of a clutch fluid/transmission fluid change.

I think you could get it for less money, for sure.

I drove a 2002 with 122,000 miles on Sunday. I don't remember the transmission being notchy.

Definitely should get it for less if it is has significant structual damage. The rear quarter is part of the subframe I believe. I wouldn't pay over 10 grand for it.
