Maybe for 7500. You can get a clean ap1 in a lot better shape for same price. 9500 will get you a nice ap1 if your patient. You'll still get those looks with the shocker and ricer sticker lol.

I just paid $9K for a REALLY clean '02 but it has 130xxx miles on it. Probably could have held off and found a better deal but I've been wanting an Stook for 7+ years. I had already sold my previous car and my CBR was my only transportation, so I jumped on the deal. (listed $1500 below retail)

Looking at the details on this car, my sense is you'll be spending a lot of time and money getting it where you want it. I'd wait a bit for the right car so you can have more time driving it than fixing it. Nothing wrong with projects if you're cool with the time and money, I'm short on both so bought carefully even if it took months.

Where are you guys finding such great deals? I am seriously considering an 2001 with 56K miles, all stock in very good condition inside and out. Best price is $12,500. I am seeing similar ones in the area like an 03 but really beat up going for $15K-$16K.

So clearly KBB values are too high to be realistic, but NADA and Edmunds don't seem to make sense when I look at what I see cars selling for in my area. Does the fact that the S2K is such a cult car make these values inaccurate in the real market place? These book values are all over the place!

2001
57,561 miles (or so)
Exterior in great condition (older owner says rear bumpers were repainted due to scuffs that wouldnt buff out)
Interior also in great condition (very minor side bolster wear on drivers seat)
Drives out fantastic with slight clutch buzz (which was barely noticable)
Owner firm at $12,500

NADA: Clean Trade-In $10,450 / Retail $12,800

Edmunds: Private Party $8,365 / Retail $9,687

AutoTrader Marketplace: $9.812

KBB: Private Party $15,835 (VG) - $14.385 (Fair)

I don't want to pass up a good deal nor do I want to be instantly upside down (financially or literally).

So I throw this out to the experts for advice.

The owners asking price seems very reasonable considering the mileage. Others are asking 11k for their 00's with 140k miles so I know what you mean about prices being everywhere. Sounds like a good deal though assuming there were no accidents and has at least some maintenance records.

Sounds similar to when I bought mine. 01 with 57k. The owner wanted $10,500. He took my offer at $9000.
