Hello! I've been looking for a s2k for a long time... lol. I came a cross this sale at dealership website. It is a GPW(my favorite color!) 2004 with about 58k miles. It has tan interior (not a huge fan but don't mind.) The price tag is 16,888... I know the kbb for retail has to be little less than that like 16,700 and the private party value should be 14,190 assuming its in excellent condition. Dealer always wins but how much do you think I could negotiate it down to? Any input would be great.
Retail prices are ridiculous and do nothing more than muddy the water for both parties. On one hand you have private sellers wanting the retail price and on the other you have dealers looking to sell at an unattainable number. Private party prices are usually several thousand below the 'suggested retail price'. It is an asinine number with no merit for the augment. I wish they would just leave it out of the equation.

That's like paying 1500 more for the certified used warranty. I say that this is very decent.. since blue book says they can literally ask for 23-24k if they want to be douche bags.

Car in great condition?

I'm still trying to get dealerships to do 20k for 07's with 25k miles... ugh...
they all ask for 22-23k.. eerrrrr....

front bumper and lip is pretty dinged up. I have literally bought 5 new honda cars from this guy over the years. He is willing to fix the bumper and put a brand new lip on. Rest of the car seems very nice.

I’d take the majority of the “steals of deals” with a grain of salt.
Just my opinion.

Man i want to pay $20k or lower for an 06, 07, or 08. but everyone is marking up the white ones! .... lowest i could get for an 08 with 30k miles was 25,500 out of the door.
07's I think i should be able to get just under $ 20 k but there silver . buying from dealerships.. looking at previous leased ones.
Be patient, I just bought a 2006 GPW with 20k miles two weeks ago for 19.5k from a private seller. I don't think I'd every buy a used car from a dealership, paying a premium + tax is just a deal breaker. I'm sure a private sale for the s2k you want will turn up, don't settle for anything less.
