I would take a look and see just what he is talking about. He could be refering to two half inch scratches or two three inch scratches, who knows. I would not consider this a deal breaker or evidence that he is a "shady" seller.

To be honest I have a small scratch with some minor paint spidering on my rear bumper (bumped into my fence backing out ). Right now everyone reading this would picture the worst, when in reality I would challenge someone to find it. On something like this as a seller I would hold off on advertising and point it out when the buyer is looking at the car, the fact that they would have never seen it had I not pointed it out is only going to help me as the seller. Am I a "shady seller", heck no!! Am I a smart seller, yeah.
hey guys. well, i picked it up. 2004 NFR S2000 with 21,600 miles.
i paid 14500+taxes (taxcuz i financed thru bank ) with 500 down.

the car was driven by a 60yr old man. overall the car is in good condition; to be expected from an old person that just drives it around but he was definitely not an enthusiast. the paint is clean but could use a good buff/polish (no biggie). the scratches on the rear bumper are not THAT bad but needs to be repainted to fix properly. there were 3 dents near the gas door (below and to the right) which i think can be fixed without issues (PDR), although one of them is near the edge where the gas door is. there is a tiny ding on the rear quarter panel on the same side of the gas door.

other than those things, the car is in very good condition. wheels are perfect with no curbage at all, the seats had furry seat covers on there with foam inserts. i took them off and the seats literally looked brand new. car is fully stock with no modification at all.

so when it comes down to it, he listed his car at 18,000 and i got it down to the above mentioned price.

i think i did pretty well. what do you guys think?

Sounds like you got a very good deal even with the marks on the body.

How did you convince him to go from $16k to $14.5?

it was actually $16k to $15k. since i financed my car through the bank i wanted to be within a certain price bracket to get my APR of 4.68%. so i had to be under $14999. the value or the car on their system was like $14.7 so if you borrow above that cost then they raise the APR about .05%. so i borrowed $14.5 and gave the seller a $500 dollar cashier's check.

he originally priced the car at $17995. i got him down to $15k because i pointed out how the dents and bumper would need to be fixed and i was quoted $1050 from the body shop at the honda dealership where i had a mastertech check it. so he just said, "give me $15,000 and use $1000 to fix the car the way you want it". so i did. he was a good guy.

sounds a bit pricey given the mileage. Whats book on an 05 with that kind of mileage?
