-Official- Is this car worth it thread
I just found a very nice 2005 Silverstone S2000 with 6.8K miles for $20,500.00.
I have been looking for an S2k for a while now. This car is within driving distance so I would save on shipping charges. This is a personal sale (no dealership).
I know the price is on the high side, but the miles are very low. The car has never seen rain and was only driven on weekends by a little old lady....
What do you guys think?

Negotiation aside, a good deal is in the eye of the beholder.
An AVERAGE 2005 S2000 in average condition with 50-60K on the ODO is somewhere between $14-$15K. As general practice if every mile is 15 cents depreciation then the mileage is worth around $6600. So it's in line with normal consumer expectations. But are you overpaying? Yes. Check out NADA and compare the purchase price to the LTV. There's not such thing as a $6600 add for low mileage, maybe a $1500 advantage for "extra clean" condition for low miles.
You should try to buy a Newer car with good miles like a MY06-07 with 18-20K miles for around the same price. A younger car is worth more money (on paper) than a car with less miles. Unless of course your preference is the other way around.
That's an $18.5K $19K max retail. I year and a half ago I sold a 2004 with 10K miles for a little under $16K for perspective. I sold it retail at a dealership with a Honda Certified warranty.

I paid 21k, private party, for MY06 with 7500k.
This was in August 2008 though. You'd be paying what I paid for a two year old car with the same mileage. Plus the other goodies found in MY06 and up.
Keep looking! Took me almost a year to find my car.

I'm starting to hate these pricing guides. Look, if you can't find something better for cheaper than 20,500 is what it's worth. Shop around, negotiate with several sellers and buy the best car you can afford comfortably.
Thanks for the comments. I think I'm just burned out and willing to buy anything at this point. I've been looking for while, everyday for an hour or so. I have flown and driven a bunch of miles to look at cars that weren't exactly as advertised. I just came across a guy on this forum selling a 2007 for about the same price with more miles. We'll see...
For what it's worth, in January I paid 19.5K for MY06 with 32k miles on it. TBH I don't think price really matters. If you want the car, and you can afford it then buy it. However, DON'T get yourself into a financial hole over a vehicle.
Whether I overpaid or not is a non issue to me, I can afford the car and it's the car I've been dreaming of for 6 years. If anything, consult your bank account not the forums.
